Sankt Johanneskirche (St. John's, Catholic) at Rathausstrasse 28 in
Rohrbach in Germany show the marriage of George's parents Johannes/John
List and Margarethe Braun in the year before they left
Germany. It is assumed that she gave birth to George on the ship
ARGO.
Before that marriage, the records show Johannes/John's marriage to a
first wife, and then records the first wife's death, leaving three
small children: Louis, Johannes, and Sophie (Sophie happens to be
the name of Johannes' mother).
