My brick wall concerns my great-grandfather, Thos. Higgins, born August 17, 1845 in
County Sligo, Ireland. I believe his father's name was William, but this I cannot prove. The family were
members of the Church of Ireland. Thomas married Anna Scott from Dromore West, Co.
Sligo. She was also a member of the Church of Ireland. I have successfully researched her family,
but Thomas remains 'unrooted.' They were married in Winnebago County, Illinois in 1869. According to the
county records, the marriage certificate has been lost. Thomas & Anna were the parents of nine
children, and again, I have that family data. I would be happy to add my Higgins tree to your site
if you are interested.
Hoping to break through my brick wall,
Phyllis Higgins Bratt PoBratt@aol.com

I am trying to find the parents of Isaiah Higgins born abt 1805, died 1869 at age 64 in Gardiner Maine. In a
book by Rev Sinnett "The Higgins Families of New England", he says
"James is the father of Isaiah" but doesn't elaborate. I believe the James he is referring
to is James Higgins, born 1780, died 1810, son of Reuben Higgins of Bath
Maine. Although the Higgins are well documented in Maine, I can not find a
marriage for James, or a birth record for Isaiah. I feel James moved to another town, got married, and had
a child in that town. I also believe after James death, he went to live with his uncle
Isaiah Higgins in bath Maine.
Any help or clues would be appreciated.

I am researching a Higgins family from Ireland.
The parents were David Higgins and wife Mary Higgins (no maiden name)
They had a daughter Mary Higgins born 1867 - 1871 in Ireland. Also possibly a daughter
Catherine Higgins born 1861 in Ireland Mary Higgins married one John Noonan probably in
Brooklyn, NY They had 6 children born from 1888 - 1896:
John, Joseph, Daniel, Mary/Mae, Margaret, Catherine Noonan
They lived in the Red Hook section of Brooklyn.
Daniel & Catherine died as infants. The parents John Noonan and wife
Mary Higgins Noonan died young in 1901 and 1902. The 4 remaining Noonan children were
raised by an Aunt whom I believe was Catherine Higgins Cullinane, wife of John Cullinane.
I do not find any record of David Higgins & wife in Brooklyn.
Any help will be much appreciated.

My Great-Great grandfather was James Owen Higgins, (born in January 1827),later married
Hannah Painter, (born in July 1828)on December 31,1848. I believe they were born in
Tennessee, and may have later moved to Arkansas. I am attempting to find out who his
parents and grandparents were. James Owen Higgins' son, Robert Benjamin
Higgins, was born, May 15,1866,died February 28,1916.Robert was married to
Nancy Jane McDonald, (born January 26,1866) on November 10,1887 in
Perry county Arkansas.
Any assistance would be appreciated.

I think the answer to your question can be found by viewing the 1850 census
below. It has a James and Clarissa Higgins living next to
James and Hannah Higgins. Researching these people may answer your
question.

Hi,
I am stumped on some of my Higgins ancestry.
They are:
1)FRANCIS MARION HIGGINS, b. 10/9/1856,KS,
mar 1. FLO MERRILL,
mar 2. OLLIE ONA LIVINGSTON.
I have no idea where in KS that Francis was born, just
where he is buried.
Lone Wolf, OK. And nothing on the others.
2) JOHN WESLEY HIGGINS, father to Francis,
he married ELIZABETH JANE
HOUSTON.
I am hoping that you can help or tell me someone that can. My Mom started this several years ago and when
she got sick, I took over.
Thank you for your time, Susan Detwiler Bonham, TX skd_00@yahoo.com

An inquiry from
Kristine Williams kristoddmitch@yahoo.com
This was the obituary from my father's passing a while ago now. His name was
Dillard Higgins. My grandfather's name was Charlie Higgins and my
grandmother's name was Roxie Higgins (her maiden name was Macintosh. Born March 10 1908). They lived in KY.
I don't know much about my grandfather as he had past way long before I was born. I was trying to do
some research on the Higgins family and did not see any of my mentioned family anywhere. Thought this
might be nice to add to your project if you could find anything out

My name is Diane Lynn Higgins Davin. danirn62@yahoo
dot com
My father is Robert Joseph Higgins and my mother was Jewel Aileen
Albritton. My father's father's name I
believe was Edward Higgins. It is rumored that Edward dropped the "O" from O'Higgins because of the terrible
prejudice to Irish during his time. My father was born Feb 4, 1920. His mother's name was
Roegina Caldecote. They were residents in Jefferson Parish, Louisiana. My grandmother played excellent piano. It
is rumored that she played piano for the silent movie theatre that existed on Canal Street in New Orleans.
My grandfather was a typesetter for The Times Picayune. Later on, they owned a chicken farm in
Baton Rouge Louisiana. This is where my parents met. My father said that he used to play on the Huey P.
Long Bridge when it was being built. My father had several brothers and sisters: Millie, Edward, Frank,
Loretta, Robert and John (Buddy). I think those were the names. Most of them were already dead by the time
I was an adolescent. I have many cousins in New Orleans. My aunt Millie married an Hebert (pronounced
A-Bear). They were very musical and talented. It is rumored that the Hebert's, my aunts family, is partly
responsible for the New Orleans Ballet and Symphony.
I would love to find out more. This is all from a child's memory. I thank you for all your efforts.
BUT ALWAYS REMEMBER WE ARE ALL RELATED...UNDER GOD!
God Bless You,
Diane HIGGINS Davin

I am looking for information on my grandfather, John Chester
Higgins. he was born Apr. 3, 1886 in I think Bremond, Texas in Robertson County. his father was
John and I'm not sure what his mothers name was. he was married to Anna
Bell Evans and they had four daughters, Bessie, Mattie, Ruby, and
Eunice. his wife died when the girls were young and he did remarry, no
children though. my mother was daughter #3, Ruby. I guess what I would most like to know is what his
mothers name was. most of the old-timers are gone now or can't remember anything. i know my grandfather
moved his daughters to Longview, Texas and I think this is where he died. i know he's buried in
Longview, Texas. he died in 1951. if anyone can offer me any information
I would be very grateful.
Sincerely, Helen Berryman & daughter Vickie Coley

Here's what I found, the 1910 census shows the people she mentioned, going
back to 1900 there is a Johnnie Higgins living with his sister Alice
with a family named Shaw of which they are in laws. I searched for a
Leona Higgins in 1880 census and did not find anything close.

Hello, My name is Debra Higgins.
I stumbled across your site today while searching for information on my
father, Chester Higgins. I have never met my father as he and my mother separated before my
birth.. He should be nearing 90 at this time if he is still alive.
The only information I have is as follows:
1) He was possibly born in Oklahoma
2) he was a house painter by occupation
3) He married Madelyn Taylor (my mother) in 1956 or 1957 in Binghampton NY.
At the time they were living in Danbury CT.
4) May be some family ties to the Torrence Massachusetts area.
5) He may have moved to Florida in the late 1950's
My mom said she looked for him, but she was not able to track his whereabouts'.
Can anyone help me in finding any info on him. ? If only to guide me in a steadfast direction? Now I
understand that he may very well be deceased by now. Having the mystery solved would be most
gratifying.
Thank you kindly,
Debra Anne Higgins (debbie higgins)
