To Joseph Fincher
Lewis King & Eliza King free persons of colour & their children
whereas, Green, John , & Anderson King
is possessed in their own right of a considerable estate that by means whereof the power of granting the guardianship of the said Lewis & Eliza King & their children to us is manifestly known to belong, & for the better securing the estate, secure ample maintenance & education of the Said Lewis & Eliza King & children & from the integrity & confidence reposed in you, we do hereby commit the tuition, education, & guardianship of the said Lewis & Eliza King & children to you, the said Joseph Fincher. you assenting thereto by your acceptance of their letters: hereing [sic] charging you, that you maintain & cause to be educated said Lewis & Eliza King & children in such manner as shall be suitable to their interest & circumstance, during your guardianship & that you inquire into & take charge of this estate both real & personal, & all other things to do, which by law you ought to do, for your said ward; of all which a true & perfect account you shall render to the first term of the court of ordinary for said county, in every year during your continuance in office. And lastly, we do hereby constitute & appoint you, the said Joseph Fincher guardian of the aforesaid Lewis & Eliza King & their children during their minority.
