Update:
March 16, 2008
With Family Tree Maker DNA testing, it has been concluded with a
67 marker
test that my husband's Harrison line descends from the SLGT, Isaiah Harrison
of Oyster Bay, New Jersey. We have not yet determined which son of Isaiah's
he descends from. This is wonderful as we have
been unable to go back from Joseph Harrison, Sr. b. 1740. We are still
trying to determine which son he descends from. If anyone has information
that may help, please email me so that we can finish out this line.
Thank you. Joyce and Wayne Harrison, North Carolina. 3/15/2008
This site is dedicated to my
family and helping others find lost family members or ancestors. I love
genealogy and have tried to trace my ancestors as well as my husbands ancestors back as
far as possible. Along the way there have been so many nice, kind people who have assisted,
contributed,
and guided me along my path. They have shared their hard work with me and it
has made my work a
little less time consuming and easier. I want to return their kindness and share my
family information with anyone
that is researching these surnames. I believe this is the way genealogy research
should be viewed in order to preserve it for all those that will come after
us.
The biggest brick walls I have encountered
is that of my great grandparents on my grandfathers side. John Clark married
Mahalia Ray in Orange County in 1850. I have been unable to track this line
any further back.
The surnames I am researching include:
MORTON, CLARK, MCPHERSON, ASKEW, HATCH, WEBSTER, MURRAY, WALKER, BAIRD, DAY,
WILSON, BIVENS, AND SHARPE, North Carolina. My husband's line is: HARRISON, BENTLEY,
BENNINGFIELD, SINCLAIR, STCLAIR, DOUGLAS, PHILLIPS, GREEN, AND ATCHLEY,
North Carolina, Tennessee, and Kentucky. There are many
others linked to these surnames as you will see as I add more pages to this
site.
Any help that anyone can offer is always much appreciated. I will
gladly correct mistakes on my pages with sufficient proof and will add
pertinent information when offered.
I moved my links to a separate page to make navigation
easier

In
all of us there is a hunger, marrow deep, to know our heritage - to know who
we are and where we came from. Without this enriching knowledge, there is a
hollow yearning. No matter what our attainments in life, there is still a
vacuum, an emptiness, and the most disquieting loneliness.

This quote by George Moore is one of my favorites
"Our
Forefathers had civilization inside themselves,
the wild outside.
WE live in the civilization they created, but within us the wilderness still lingers.
What they dreamed, we live,
What they lived, we dream."
