NC in 1751 and 1761 respectively; </LI> <LI>Robert Coleman of Isle of Wight County who did not leave any male descendants; </LI> <LI>Robert Coleman of Charles City County who was the subject of &quot;Robert Coleman from VA to TX, 1652-1965&quot; by former Mississippi governor James P. Coleman, now deceased; and </LI> <LI>Robert Coleman of Mobjack Bay.</LI> </UL> <P>Wesley D. Coleman of Friendswood, Texas administers this website.&nbsp; Wes is descended from Robert Coleman of Nansemond County, VA and has done a remarkable job of researching and developing his line.&nbsp; Wes’ website <A HREF="http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~nansemondcolemans/index.htm"> http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~nansemondcolemans/index.htm</A> contains valuable and interesting Coleman information.</P> <P>Information from my 1998 book "The Coleman Family of Mobjack Bay, VA" is posted below in the various links regarding our immigrant ancestor Robert Coleman, his wife Elizabeth Grizzell, and their six known surviving children.&nbsp; New discoveries have been made in the past few years, and new family lines have been submitted by Coleman descendants This website is a work in progress and new information will be added as it becomes available, and time permits.</P> <P>More than twenty years of research have gone into this project, and the results would have been less informative without the contributions of Judge Solon B. Coleman, deceased, of Fredericksburg, VA and the numerous Coleman descendants who so willingly shared the results of their own research and family histories.&nbsp; The effort to preserve our Coleman history has indeed been a family project.&nbsp; Each one of you who contributed deserves a heartfelt thank you!</P> </DIV> <TABLE BGCOLOR="#FFE0F8" CELLPADDING="5" BORDER="0" CELLSPACING="0" WIDTH="640" ALIGN="CENTER"> <TR> <TD WIDTH="160"><FONT FACE="ARIAL" SIZE="3"><A HREF="alphandx.htm"><B>SITE INDEX OF PROPER NAMES<B></A></FONT></TD> <TD WIDTH="15">&nbsp;</TD> <TD WIDTH=320 ALIGN="CENTER"> <B><FONT FACE="ARIAL" SIZE="5">THE COLEMAN FAMILY</FONT> <FONT SIZE="1"><BR><BR></FONT> <FONT FACE="ARIAL" SIZE="4"> of Mobjack Bay, Gloucester County, Virginia<BR></FONT><BR> </B> </TD> <TD WIDTH="15">&nbsp;</TD> <TD WIDTH="80" ALIGN="CENTER"><a href="index.html"><FONT FACE="ARIAL" STYLE="BOLD" SIZE="4">Home</FONT></a> </TD></TR></TABLE> <TABLE BGCOLOR="#C0B4A0" CELLPADDING="6" BORDER="6" CELLSPACING="2" WIDTH="850" ALIGN="CENTER"> <TR> <TH CLASS="topmenu" WIDTH="270"><DIV CLASS="tabhdg"> Descendants </DIV> </TH> <TH CLASS="topmenu" WIDTH="270" VALIGN="MID"><DIV CLASS="tabhdg"> Of Interest </DIV> </TH> <TH CLASS="topmenu" WIDTH="270" VALIGN="CENTER"><DIV CLASS="tabhdg"> Colonial Virginia </DIV> </TH> </TR> <TR> <TD CLASS="topmenu"> <DIV CLASS="topmenu"> <A CLASS="topmenu" HREF="b01intro.htm">Introduction</A> </DIV><DIV CLASS="topmenu"> <A CLASS="topmenu" HREF="b02numbering.htm">Numbering System</A> </DIV><DIV CLASS="topmenu"> <A CLASS="topmenu" HREF="b03robert.htm">Robert Coleman of<BR>Mobjack Bay, Virginia</A></DIV><DIV CLASS="topmenu"> <A CLASS="topmenu" HREF="b04thomas.htm">(1)&nbsp; Thomas Coleman</A></DIV><DIV CLASS="topmenu"> <A CLASS="topmenu" HREF="b05robert.htm">(2)&nbsp; Robert Coleman</A> </DIV><DIV CLASS="topmenu"> <A CLASS="topmenu" HREF="b06joseph.htm">(3)&nbsp; Joseph Coleman</A></DIV><DIV CLASS="topmenu"> <A CLASS="topmenu" HREF="b07grizzel.htm">(4)&nbsp; Grizzell Coleman</A></DIV><DIV CLASS="topmenu"> <A CLASS="topmenu" HREF="b08daniel.htm">(5)&nbsp; Daniel Coleman</A> </DIV><DIV CLASS="topmenu"> <A CLASS="topmenu" HREF="b09john.htm">(6)&nbsp; John Coleman</A> </DIV><DIV CLASS="topmenu"> <A CLASS="topmenu" HREF="b10missing.htm">Missing Links</A> </DIV><DIV CLASS="topmenu"> </DIV><DIV CLASS="topmenu"> </DIV> </TD> <TD CLASS="topmenu"> <DIV CLASS="topmenu"> <A CLASS="topmenu" HREF="g01earlyvacolemans.htm">Early Colemans<BR>in Virginia</A> </DIV><DIV CLASS="topmenu"> </DIV><DIV CLASS="topmenu"> <A CLASS="topmenu" HREF="g02englishroots.htm">English Roots</A> </DIV><DIV CLASS="topmenu"> </DIV><DIV CLASS="topmenu"> <A CLASS="topmenu" HREF="g03spencer.htm">Spencer Coleman From<BR>Virginia to Tennessee</A> </DIV><DIV CLASS="topmenu"> <A CLASS="topmenu" HREF="g04thomas.htm">The Mystery ofThomas<BR>Coleman (1738-1810)</A> </DIV><DIV CLASS="topmenu"> <A CLASS="topmenu" HREF="g05robtmorris.htm">Robert Morris Coleman,<BR>Texas Patriot</A> </DIV><DIV CLASS="topmenu"> <A CLASS="topmenu" HREF="g06melungeon.htm">Melungeon Roots</A> </DIV><DIV CLASS="topmenu"> </DIV><DIV CLASS="topmenu"> </DIV> </TD> <TD CLASS="topmenu"> <DIV CLASS="topmenu"> <A CLASS="topmenu" HREF="v01history.htm">Virginia History Encapsulated </A></DIV><DIV CLASS="topmenu"> <A CLASS="topmenu" HREF="v02laws.htm">Laws in Early Virginia </A></DIV><DIV CLASS="topmenu"> <A CLASS="topmenu" HREF="v03landgrant.htm">The Land Grant System<BR>in Early Virginia </A></DIV><DIV CLASS="topmenu"> <A CLASS="topmenu" HREF="v04merchantbooks.htm">Merchant Account Books<BR>As a Research Tool </A></DIV><DIV CLASS="topmenu"> <A CLASS="topmenu" HREF="v05legalterms.htm">Legal Terms and<BR>Word Definitions </A></DIV><DIV CLASS="topmenu"> <A CLASS="topmenu" HREF="v06names.htm">Pronunciation of<BR>Virginia Names</A></DIV><DIV CLASS="topmenu"> <A CLASS="topmenu" HREF="v07maps.htm">County Boundaries<BR>and Maps </A> </DIV><DIV CLASS="topmenu"> <A CLASS="topmenu" HREF="v08herbs.htm">Ancestral Herbs</A></DIV><DIV CLASS="topmenu"> </DIV> </TD> </TR> </TABLE> <DIV CLASS="signature">&nbsp; &nbsp; <a href="abouttheauthor.html">The late Sherrianne Coleman Nicol</a></DIV> <P ALIGN="CENTER"> Web curator:&nbsp; <A HREF="mailto:wescoleman@sbcglobal.net">Wes Coleman</A> &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; Last Update:&nbsp; <script language="javascript" src="moddate.js"> </script> <script language="javascript"> moddate(); </script> </P> </BODY>
