Knipscheer Genealogy Resources

Welcome to the KNIPSCHEER-L mailing list resource page!

I had always thought that my Knipscheers were from the Netherlands; to me, Knipscheer sounds and looks quintessentially Dutch. It turns out, however, that if may not be so: my Grandma Mamie's grandfather, Theodor(e) Knipscheer, was born in Prussia.

It has been pointed out that Great great grandfather Theodor(e)'s little corner of Prussia very well may have been in territory that changed hands over the years. My cousins who are working on this side of the family, Beverly Farfsing and her daughter-in-law Virginia Sielen, haven't yet found the village he was born in; finding it will, hopefully, clear things up.

Beverly and Virginia, and by extension, I, have run into a brick wall on Theodore; since they haven't found his village, they haven't found anything about his forebears. I was hoping to pick up a few clues on the 'Net, but most of what I found was for either the generations after Theodore, or for what look like unrelated families. I then discovered there was no RootsWeb mailing list for the Knipscheer name.

I requested, and got, the Knipscheer list and GenConnect boards, and realized I needed some help to get them all up and running. Hopefully, this page will draw other Knipscheer researchers.

Researchers

The following folk are researching Knipscheers. I've listed the name of their earliest Knipscheer, birth and death years (if known), spouse (if known), and starting and ending locations (if known), and listed all researchers working on that line, with e-mail address and Web site, if submitted. Also listed, if known, are related surnames.
