Callao Post Office
A Government service, close to the lives of Callao citizens is the post office. The records were destroyed in the fire of 1887. Dates before that time are not accurate. We know Lucious Ballinger was the first postmaster. Two others before that date, were E. E. Richardson and John A. Chinn. The following, since 1887, have served either as postmaster or clerk.

Rural Mail service was established in the United States In 1896. Callao's first route was established two years later in 1898.

Route 2 was established in 1901. Carriers were:

Route 3 established in 1901. The carriers are;

Route 4 established in 1904. The carriers are:

Henry Ross served temporary carrier while Campbell served in World War I. Grant Dutton temporary carrier after retirement of Campbell.
In 1934, Route 2 & 3 were consolidated with Ralph Bennett as carrier, Grover Baker and E. M. Mayhew retired and Posey Mayhew was transferred to Route 1. Route 4 became Route 3.
In 1955 H. T. Campbel retired and 3 was consolidated into Routes 1 & 2. During the transition period Grant Dutton served this route.
December 31, 1957, Posey Mayhew retired. Virgil Cook served this route until E.E. Osman was transferred from Bevier May 3, 1958 to become permanent carrier.
In 1921 the Callao Post Office was made a third class office.
