It is difficult to identify Fred Mueller on immigration records because of the frequent occurrence of the Mueller name. He apparently came first and then sent for his family. Carolina and the children came to the US, arriving on 23 November 1874 on the ship Hermann

They lived in Valley Township, near Hampton, in Hamilton County, Nebraska, where they farmed for many years. At the time of the 1920 census, Carolina, widowed, lived with her daughter and son-in-law Tillie and Henry Rahrs, in Beaver Township, Hamilton County, Nebraska. Fred and Caroline are buried in the cemetery of Zion Lutheran Church, 2306 East 16th Road, northeast of Hampton, Nebraska. A single stone marks the two graves.

On the front of the pillar is Fred's name and this inscription:

     Obituary of Gertrude Wall Miller

     Gertrude M. Miller, 94, lifelong resident of Hampton, died Sunday, July 9, 2006, at Hamilton Manor in Aurora. Services will be Wednesday, July 12 at 2 p.m. at St. Peter's Lutheran Church in Hampton with Rev. Randall Smith officiating. Visitation will be Tuesday, July 11 from 5 to 7:30 p.m. at the church. Burial will be in the Hampton Cemetery.
     Gertrude Martha Miller was born Nov. 23, 1911, in Hampton to Christian and Katherine (Bamesberger) Wall. She received her education in Hampton, graduating from Hampton High School in 1929.
     On Aug. 28, 1932, she married Arthur F. Miller at St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Concord. They made their home in Hampton where they owned and operated the Corner Store for several years and then farmed until their retirement. They continued to live in Hampton. Her husband died in January of 1990. She moved to the East Park Villa in Aurora in January of 2005 and had been at Hamilton Manor for that last few weeks.
     As a lifelong member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church in Hampton, she was active in all aspects of church life. She was baptized on Dec. 1, 1912, confirmed on April 5, 1925, had been a member of the Ladies Aid for over 70 years, and attended Bible classes. She also was a member of several card clubs, she enjoyed quilting, and tying quilts for relief missions.
     Survivors include one sister, Velma Sullivan of McLean, Va.; two brothers, Carl Wall of Aurora and Raymond Wall of Lincoln; five nieces, nine nephews and other relatives and friends.
     She was preceded in death by her husband; four brothers, Herman, William, Edwin, and Walter; four sisters, Lena Driewer, Emma Fenster, Clara Hansen, and Dorothy Fenster; and one niece, Janis Clark.

     HEMET, Calif. -- Edna Wall, age 96, of Hemet, Calif., formerly of Hampton, died Monday, July 5, 2004, of a stroke.
     Graveside services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Hampton Cemetery. Higby-McQuiston Mortuary is in charge of arrangements locally.
     Services were held at Prince of Peace Lutheran Church in Hemet, California on Friday, July 9. Harford Funeral in Hemet, California was in charge of the arrangements.
     Edna Vera Wall was born in Hampton.
     Survivors of the immediate include her husband, [Living] Wall of Hemet, Calif. Also surviving are a sister-in-law, [Living] Miller of Hampton, and many nieces and nephews.
     Edna was united in marriage to [Living] Wall. She was a dental assistant for 50 years, 26 of those for Dr. Phillips in Woodland Hills. Edna also was president of the Dental Assistants Association.

   Henry lived in Thayer, had a dry goods store with his brother Theodore for several years. Then they moved back to the farm where they lived until about 1941, when they moved into Hampton. They are buried at Zion Lutheran cemetery near Hampton, Nebraska.

       OBITUARY of Lawrence Reetz

       Lawrence Reetz, 83, of York died Wednesday, Nov. 15, 2000, at Hastings.
       He was born Jan. 11, 1917, at York to Frederick and Helena (Roehrs) Reetz. He married Ella Epke on Jan. 21, 1940, at the family home at Waco. Lawrence was raised in the Lutheran faith. He was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church at Waco for over 60 years. He was a lifelong farmer in York County and a sports enthusiast.
       He is survived by his son, [Living] Reetz of York; two grandchildren; three great-grandsons; and one great-granddaughter. Also surviving is a sister, [Living] Maronde of York and a sister-in-law [Living] Reetz of Lincoln
       He was preceded in death by his wife, parents, four brothers, one sister and a great-granddaughter.
       Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, Nov. 18, 2000, at St. John's Lutheran Church south of Waco with the Rev. Paul Kern officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Memorials may be directed to the Alzheimer's Research Foundation. Visitation has begun at Metz Mortuary in York.

     AURORA--Rose Gardner, 92, of Aurora died Friday, Jan. 16, 1998, at the Hamilton Manor in Aurora.
     Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at St. Peter Lutheran Church in Hampton. The Rev. George Damm will officiate. Burial will be in Lincoln Memorial Park Cemetery in Lincoln.
     Visitation will be from 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday at the Higby Mortuary in Aurora.
     Mrs. Gardner was born Nov. 2, 1905, to Henry and Otillie (Mueller) Rahrs. She grew up and attended school in Hampton. In 1942, she moved to Lincoln until she returned to Aurora. She entered the Hamilton Manor at Aurora in Sept. 1987.
     She married Deacon R. Gardner in July 1955 (sic) at Hampton. He died on March 6, 1955.
     She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Lincoln.
     Survivors include her brother, Alvin Rahrs of Aurora, and nieces and nephews.
     She was preceded in death by her husband; two brothers, Clarence and Elmer Rahrs and four sisters, Lena Reentz, Marcella Driewer, Lydia Maronde and Alma Rahrs.

     Excerpts from the obituary of Elvera Rahrs:

     She attended a rural country school outside of Marquette. Elvera was baptized and confirmed at St. John's Ev. Lutheran Church in Kronborg.
     Elvera was united in marriage to [Living] Rahrs on September 1, 1940 at St. John's Ev. Lutheran Church at Kronborg. The newly wed couple lived in Washington State for a year before returning to Nebraska, making their home in Seward, Nebraska until 1952. They moved to Marquette that spring where they farmed together until retirement. In 1981, the couple moved to Aurora.
     Elvera was a member of the Garden Club, and also participated in church activities at Messiah Lutheran Church, including the women's circle. She enjoyed gardening, music and family.
     She was preceded in death by her parents and five brothers, Peter, Hans, Holger, Edward and Jim Larsen.
     She is survived by her husband of Aurora and three sons.
