A. H. Smith and his brother-in-law published a newspaper in Nebraska in the late 80's, sold out to their nephew/son Moses M. Warner [author of the 1892 History of Dakota County, where the Jesse Warner's settled]. Then went to Oakland - still in Burt County - where they published a newspaper. Both the brothers are buried in Burt County, Nebraska. Brother was W. D. who had a son named Shelley who died in West Plains, Mo and the body later removed to the family lot. (This was from Burt County, Nebraska, researcher - however Walter D. was son of A. H. and not brother per census records and age of family!)

LYONS MIRROR
A family reunion was held in Lyons Nebraska in 1887: (parenthetical names added for clarity)

"For the week past the Mirror family has been ingulfed in a happy reunion of a part of the brothers and sisters of Mrs. A. H. Smith, nee Mary E. Woodward, and a few of their descendants.
On Friday, the 12th instant, A.(Abraham) R. Woodward and his wife, Maggie S., of Union, Iowa, arrived. On Thursday, the 18th inst., S. E. McCracken and his wife E. J. (Eliza Jane) of Kansas City, Mo., and Mrs. May W. Brooks and daughter Fay, of Clarion, Iowa, reached here. Friday and Saturday brought Henry M. Woodward and daughter, Lois M., of Dell Rapids, Dakota; Col. J.(Jesse) F. Warner and wife, (Hannah) of Winnebago, Nebraska, Mrs. DeBell and daughter, Georgia; R. C. Bauer and wife, C.; D. W. Parmelee and wife, Marly Am., and E. J. Warner, of Rosebud, Dakota and M.(Moses) M. Warner, of Homer, Neb. Of these two, A. R. and H.(Henry) M. Woodward, are brothers and E. J. McCracken and H. M. Warner are sisters of Mary E. Smith. Of the older ones some had not met for thirty-six years. Of the younger ones some had never met before.
Those who have never engaged in such family re-unions can hardly realize the amount of pleasure they afford to relatives who have long been separated. In this case everyone's cup of joy seemed to be full to the overflowing. Music of a fine quality, instrumental and vocal, enlivened the occasion. Notwithstanding all seemed to enjoy themselves so well, a feeling of great disappointment prevailed and was clearly manifested. Two brothers,
J.(John) D. Woodward , of Cascade Locks, Oregon, and N.(Nathan) S. Woodward , of Redding California; and a sister, Margaret A. Canaday , of Avoca, Neb., and many nephews, nieces and cousins, were expected; some of whom sent letters, when they found that they could not come, expressing their regrets that they must be absent. Others have not yet reported the cause of their not coming. Some were expected from Austin, Texas; others from Mansfield, Louisiana [Jacob Shelley's home]; Washington, D. C. [Charles Shelley's residence]; Ridgeway, Mo; Chicago Ill., and from different points in Iowa and Nebraska.
Of the letters received a
very interesting one had been written by a cousin, Hon. H. E. Shelley , of Austin, Texas, giving a detailed account of his father's family of eleven children and their descendants. Another letter, from a brother, N.(Nathan) S.(Shelley) Woodward, of Redding, California, expressed regret that his old age and failing health prevented his participation in the reunion here, but he hoped to meet all in a happy reunion beyond the shores of time.
On Saturday, Artist
Taylor , squared his camera in front of the entire group in the door yard, and thus each of the participants can have in the future, a shadow to remind them of the joys of the occasion.
On Monday some of those from Rosebud, Dakota, left for home via Emerson, where they will stop for two or three days, and all the others accompanied by the entire Mirror family went to Winnebago, and there beheld the doings of the redman, after which they separated, feeling that it is not probable that they would ever again all meet in such a reunion here on earth."
