Charles FAUST was born in Germany in April of 1862.  At the age of 21, in 1883, he made the journey across the Atlantic Ocean and was naturalized in 1887.

Charles married Elizabeth SELLINGER in Rochester, Monroe County, New York in 1887.  At the time of their marriage, Charles' profession was listed as a carpenter, but the 1900 census finds him as a general farmer and owner of his land in the Town of Chili in Monroe County.

Charles and Elizabeth had 12 children, two of their children did not survive past infancy.  Elizabeth SELLINGER FAUST died on 30 April 1909.  The 1920 census shows Charles living with his daughter Christine and her three youngest brothers.  By 1930, all of the children had married and moved away, many of them to Rochester, and Charles was living alone on his farm.
