This site is dedicated to the research of the French surname Clevelle. Other variations of this surname include Clavel, Clavell, and Clevell. A common English surname, Clewell, is often misspelled in records as Clevelle, thereby causing some confusion. This also may be the source of the English branch of the same name, though that is pure speculation on my part. Though this site's focus is on the French lineage, some records may include individuals from the English or Spanish lines.

Current records available here are census', marriages, veteran records, and miscellaneous records. Other records to be added include births, deaths, and immigration records.

Unfortunately this site is currently not searchable by name. Hopefully this will be corrected at some point in the future. Until then, please take a few minutes to investigate the various records contained herein. Most include source references to make finding the record elsewhere easier.

A Note From the Author

I married into the Clevelle family in 2001. When I began researching the name, I hit a brick wall when my father-in-law did not know the name of his grandfather. Through literally months of research, I was finally able to discover that the name he gave me was actually the name of his great-uncle. I also came to realize that for one researching this French family, there is very little available online. Therefore I decided that perhaps by creating a site limited strictly to this line, the other few researchers out there could find information more quickly.

Also available to researchers of this family is a Yahoo! group I started in 2003. It seems that very few individuals are tracing this family's lineage, but if you are, please feel free to contact me.
