THE PARIS NEWS Thursday, February 22, 1968. 'The funeral of Fred K. Julian, 82, of Roxton, who died Wednesday in a Dallas hospital, was arranged for 3 pm Thursday in Roxton Methodist Church where he was a member. The pastor, the Rev. Tim Walker, will officiate and announced as bearers were J. T. Landers, Leonard McCabe, Charles and Joe Julian, Dean Nelson and Floyd Weaver; Fry & Gibbs of Paris had direction of burial in Restland Cemetery. Born in Ambia community, July 10, 1885, Mr. Julian was a son of Frank David Julian and the former Violet Jane Smith. A retired farmer, he died about 9:50 am Wednesday in Methodist Hospital, Dallas, where he had been nearly three months. [Next line blacked out] Mrs. Oscar Childers and Mrs. Drew Swearingen, Roxton; Mrs. Charles Harris, Desoto; F. K. Julian, Jr., Malakoff; Jerry Julian, Dallas; Harold Julian in California, and Kenneth Julian, Garland. Also 18 other descendants: a stepdaughter, Mrs. W. C. Surviving are her husband; a son, Robert Michael Derrick and wife Gwen of Arlington; grandson, Richie Derrick and wife Sonja of Lake Whitney; two daughters, Jodie Mottwilder of Dallas and Kathy Handy of Colorado Springs; five grandchildren; one great-grandson; a brother, C.C. Brewer of Midlothian and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a sister, Marie McCann. If desired, memorials may be made to the restoration project of Ben Franklin Methodist Church.

Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 15, in Fry & Gibbs Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Martin Corie officiating. Burial will be in Restland Cemetery in Roxton. The family will receive friends from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Mr. Julian was born Jan. 2, 1931, in Roxton, a son of Fred and Lillie Perkins Julian. He attended Roxton schools and Paris Junior College. He entered the Air Force in 1950, retiring in 1961. He worked for civil service in the communications department of the Navy. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge in Charleston, SC and a member of the Elks Lodge there. Surviving are four sisters, Pat Harris of Desoto, Pauline Childers of Noble, Margaret Swearingen of Roxton and Odessa Lawrence of Midland; two brothers, Buddy Julian of Malakoff and Jerry Julian of Dallas; several nieces and nephews; and an uncle, Homer Perkins of Little Rock, AR.' *Tombstone is inscribed, 'AIC US Army Korea.' Buried next to Lillie Perkins Julian.

Friends will be received Wednesday between 7:30 and 9 p.m. at Leveret and Steele Funeral Home, where service is set for 2 p.m. Thursday. Burial will be made in Evergreen Cemetery. Fry and Gibbs Funeral Home will conduct graveside services at 11 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 30, in Hickory Grove Cemetery with Dr. Tim Walker and the Rev. John Edwards officiating. The family will be at their residence. He was born June 1, 1913, in the Noble community to Drew T. Swearingen Sr. and Kate Bradshaw Swearingen. He attended school at Noble and Roxton and business college in Dallas. He married Margaret Julian Nov. 7, 1936, in Salinas, CA. He was a member of First United Methodist Church of Roxton and a member of the Roxton Masonic Lodge for more than 50 years. He had also operated a service station and garage in Roxton for more than 50 years. Surviving are his wife, Margaret; a daughter, Kay Akers of Arlington; two grandchildren, Mark and Amanda Akers, both of Arlington; a sister, Mabel Dickson of Paris; and several cousins, especially Juanita Hillhouse, John Norton and Jewel Hix, all of Paris; and other relatives. Honorary pallbearers will be Ralph Ribble, Joe Ribble, J. T. Landers, C. W. Lawrence, Ralph Smith and Leo Caldwell.'

Mr. Julian was born 14 Nov 1913, in the Broadway community of Lamar County, a son of M. H. Julian and Zona Fry Julian. He attended Maxey and Roxton schools and was a graduate of Roxton High School. He served in a CCC camp before marrying Mildred Brown on 13 Dec 1933. He was associated with the Lamar County Electric Coop for 33 years where he was a line foreman and assistant manager before retiring in 1962. He was a member of the Oak Park United Methodist Church and of the Brotherhood Sunday School Class and the church choir. He was a member of Paris Masonic Lodge No. 27, AF and AM and was a Knights Templar. He was a former member of the Breakfast Optimist Club. Surviving are his wife; one daughter, Mrs. Roy (Jacque) Simmons of Paris; one son and daughter-in-law, Michael L. and Karen Julian of Paris; five granddaughters, Sherry Porter of Paris, Angela Simmons of Clear Lake City, Mrs. Allen (Marcie) Temple of Paris, Mrs. Kevin (Jennifer) Branch of Nacogdoches and Kristi Julian of Paris; three great grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Jack Stockton of Freeport and Mrs. Bill Sandlin of Douglas; two brothers, Siegel L.
