THE LAMAR COUNTY ECHO, 25 Sep 1986. 'Wilbur E. Emberson of Roxton died Thursday, 18 Sep 1986, at Cal Cam Hospital in Sulpher, La. Services were held Sunday, 21 Sep, in Bright-Holland Funeral Home Chapel with Masonic graveside rites at Restland Cemetery in Roxton. Mr. Umberson was born 21 Aug 1897, in Lamar County, a son of Mr. and Mrs. Ben M. Umberson. He married Lovelia Moore on 7 Sep 1919, in Roxton. She died 21 Aug 1968. He had lived in Roxton until Sep of 1985 when he moved to Sulpher. He was a retired farmer and attended the Church of Christ in Roxton. He was a 32nd Degree Mason, a Shriner and former member of the Roxton School Board, the West Lamar School Board, director of the First National Bank in Roxton, and a member of the Farm Bureau. Surviving are three daughters, Mrs. Kenneth (Chris) Flynn of Alexandria, La., Mrs. Vernon (Datherine) Atchley of Roxton and Mrs. Jerry (Barbara) Gibson of Sulpher, La.; one brother, Roy Umberson of Roxton; two sisters, Lorna Childers of Roxton and Mamie Hollabaugh of Blooming Grove, Texas; seven grandchildren; and seven great grandchildren.'

Moore of Roxton, TX, will be celebrating their fiftieth wedding anniversary on Sunday, Dec. 27 (1981), with a reception in the Fellowship Hall of the Roxton Methodist Church. All friends and relatives are invited to attend the reception between the hours of 2 and 4, hosted by Mr. and Mrs. James Moore and grandchildren, Brennan and Allison. The couple requests no gifts, please. Lloyd M. Moore and Josephine Lattimore were married on Dec. 29, 1931 at the Garrett Memorial Methodist Church by J. Russell Brown.' *Lloyd M. (Button) Moore, 77, of Roxton died at St. Joseph's Hospital Tuesday, Feb. 23. Services were held Thursday, Feb. 25, at the First United Methodist Church in Roxton with the Rev. Martin Corie officiating. Burial was in Restland Cemetery by Fry & Gibbs Funeral Home. Bearers were Joe Friday, Ingram Creed, R. T. (Pug) Perry, Glen Fletcher, Thomas Whipple and J. T. Landers. Mr. Moore was born June 5, 1910, in Roxton, a son of George H. and Lucy Boyd Moore. He attended Roxton school and had been a postal clerk for 33 years before retiring in 1977. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church and of its board of stewards. He was a member of the Roxton Masonic Lodge and the board of the Roxton Ex-Students Association. He was also a member of the board of the Restland Cemetery Association at Roxton and had served as mayor of Roxton three terms. He was the organizer of the Little League Baseball in Roxton. On Dec. 29, 1931, he married Josephine Lattimore. Surviving are his wife; one son and daughter-in-law, James and Pat Moore of Rockwall; two grandchildren, Brennan and Allison Moore of Rockwall; and one sister, Mrs. Roy Umberson of Roxton.'

He died Feb. 23, 1988. She was postmistress at Roxton for 25 years before retiring and had worked at the Paris post office for 4 years. She was a member of the Roxton United Methodist Church and had taught its adult ladies Sunday school class for a number of years. She was a member of the National League of Postmasters, had served on the Lamar County welfare board for 9 years, was a member of the Red River Valley Arts Ass'n, a charter member of the Roxton Book Club, and was a lifetime member of the United Methodist Women. She served on the board of the Roxton Cemetery Ass'n. and on the board of the Roxton Ex-Students Ass'n. Surviving are a son and daughter-in-law, James Lloyd and Pat Moore of Rockwall; 2 grandchildren, Brennan Moore and Allison Moore, both of Rockwall.

Charles Lowell Steffey, 80, of Petty passed away Wednesday, Jan. 26, 2005, in Dubuis Hospital. Graveside services were conducted at 11 a.m. Friday in Restland Cemetery at Roxton with the Rev. Steve Cook officiating. He was born on May 29, 1924, in Breckenridge, a son of Carl Francis and Dottie Franks Steffey. He was an accountant for LTV Systems in Greenville, retiring after 33 years, a veteran of World War II serving in the Army, a member of Church of Christ, Elks Lodge and V. F. W. He married Elaine Moore on April 17, 1945, in Columbia, S.C. He was preceded in death by his parents; step-mother, Ninnie Clark Steffey; and a step-brother, Dr. Jim Clark of Odessa. He is survived by his wife, Elaine Steffey of Petty; three sons, Gary Steffey and wife, Cindy, of White Oak, Charles Steffey and wife, Sue, of Paris, and Carl Steffey and wife, Donna, of Brookston; grandchildren, Coral Steffey of San Antonio, Jason Steffey of Paris, Cameron Steffey of Brookston, Brandon Steffey of Houston and Clint Steffey of Lubbock; several nieces and nephews including Larry Anderson of Arlington.
