Morris"
(following is typed verbatim, spellings
and upper/lower cases matching article) Obituary, from the
Arkansas Gazette, 13/14 January 1905, page unknown. "The
Late C.D. Morris" C.D. Morris was born March 24, 1826, in
North Carolina. He spent his early boyhood in Alabama, and
then moved to Texas where he lived until 1873, when he moved to
Little Rock, where he had since resided. In Texas, during
reconstruction days, he was very active, being a member of the
Eleventh and Twelfth Texas legislatures.
He was one of the presidential electors that went to elect
President Grant. For many years he had been engaged in the
hardware business on West Seventh street, but owing to ill
health, retired from business last July. He died January
12, 1905. The services were held from his late residence,
706 Gaines street, Friday afternoon at 3 o'clock, Rev. Dr.
Christian of the Second Baptist church officiating. The
songs, "When My Life's Work Is Ended," "Asleep In
Jesus," and "Nearer My God, To Thee," were
rendered by the Second Presbyterian choir, the last being his
favorite song. The floral tributes were beautiful and
numerous. He leaves a devoted wife and three children,
Robert D. Morris, superintendent of the water company of Mount
Vernon, Ind., Mrs. W. Burt Brooks and Miss Ruth Morris.

Irene M. Delaney, 62 of Belpre died Saturday morning at Camden
Clark Memorial Hospital.
She was born in Rockport, a daughter of the late Raymond and Lena
(White) Morris. She was a member of the First Baptist
Church of Belpre and had worked for 5 years in the Borg-Warner
cafeteria as a cook.
She was survived by her husband of 17 years, Hugh Delaney; one
daughter, Mrs. Donald(Pat) Murray of Elizabeth, WV; one grandson,
Jay Ewing of Elizabeth; four brothers, William, Paul and
Richard Morris, all of Parkersburg. Ralph Morris of Pond
Creek, WV; four sisters, Mildred Board, Helen Trippett, Betty
Champ, Susie Tucker, all of Parkersburg; She was preceded in
death by a brother, Arthur Morris and her twin sister, Kathleen
Mays.

Nov. 21, 1910 d Aug.6, 1977 Fred Dell Morris of
Rt.1 Belleville, died Saturday evening in the Veterans Hospital
at Clarksburg. He was born at Rockport, the son of the late
William and Mary E.(Small) Morris. He was a salesman, a
member of the Church of Christ and a Marine Corps veteran
of World War II .
Survivors include one sister, Mrs. Dora Atkinson of Vienna and
several nieces and nephews. A brother preceded him in

Hazel Morris, 78 of 934 Moyer Ave., Parkersburg, died at her
residence at 5 am today after a long illness.
She was born in Mineral Wells, daughter of the late Jess and
Belle (Ruble) White. She was a member of the Big Tygart
Methodist Church. She is survived by four sons, Richard, William
and Paul Morris of Parkersburg and Ralph Morris of Belleville;
six daughters, Irene Delaney of Belpre, Kathleen Mays, Betty
Champ and Helen Trippett of Parkersburg, Mildred Board of
Belleville and Suzie Tucker of Waverly; two brothers, Shirley
White of Lubeck and Ralph White of Mineral Wells; two
sisters, Mae Marshall of Parkersburg and Maggie Ryan of
Rockport; 26 grandchildren and 12 great great grandchildren
. She was preceded in death by her husband,
A.R. Morris in 1967. The funeral will be
at 2 pm Sunday at Kimes Funeral Home, the Rev. Paul Canary
officiating, with buriel in Central Cemetary near Rockport.

March 2, 1996: Ella Morris , 77, died Friday in an Abilene hospital. Services
will be at 2 p.m. Sunday in Starbuck Funeral Home Chapel in
Merkel with Sherman Driggers officiating. Burial will be in Trent
Cemetery. \par Mrs. Morris was horn in Cross Plains and married
Amos Morris in 1933 in Stamford. She was a homemaker and worked
as a charge attendant at the Abilene state School for 17 years
before retiring in 1976. She was a Fundamental Baptist. Survivors
include her husband, of Trent: five sons, Clifton Morris of
Haskell, Larry Morris of Trent, David Morris of Wichita Falls,
Gary Morris of Clyde and Stanley Morris of Merkel; six daughters,
Lena Jackson, Annie Mae Brenem, Doris Jean Webb, Joyce Doan and
Alice Chacon, all of Trent, and Brenda Hogan of Athens; one
brother; E.G. Walters of Dover; Okla.; one sister, Faye Burks of
Monahans; 31 grandchildren; 35 great-grandchildren; and several

JOHNSON, Kan. - George Clifton Morris 67, father of an Abilene
resident, died Sunday in a local hospital after a lengthy
illness.Graveside services were held Tuesday in Stanton County
Cemetery with the Rev. Dale Clare officiating, directed by
Figgins-Phillips Funeral Home.Mr. Morris was born in Johnson and
worked as a self-employed reclaimation engineer. He was a member
of American Legion and United Methodist Church. Survivors include
three daughters, Vonnie Sharp of Abilene, and Tina Weber and
Genevia Cook, both of Amarillo; three sisters Levonna O'Donnell
and Octavia Smith, both of Johnson, and Pearl Wilson of Garden

Morris , 82, lifelong local resident, died Wednesday in a local
nursing home. Graveside services will be at 3 p.rn. today in
Eastlawn Memorial Park with the Rev. Jerry Galloway officiating ,
directed by Davis-Morris Funeral Home. Mrs. Morris was born in
Byrds and married L.G. Morris in 1954 in Brownwood. She was a
homemaker and was a member of Early United Methodist Church.
Survivors include her husband, of Brownwood; one daughter;
Roseanne Pittman of Owens; two grandchildren; two
great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Memorials

ROBY - Emma Lloyd Morris, 98,
of Flower Mound and formerly of Roby, died Thursday in a
Grapevine hospital. Services will be at 3 p.m. today in
Weathersbee Funeral Home Chapel in Rotan with the Rev. Loren
Gardner officiating. Burial will be in Roby Cemetery. Mrs. Morris
was born in Paris, Texas, and moved to Fisher County in 1912. She
was a homemaker and moved to Flower Mound in 1991. She was a
member of Order of the Eastern Star and Roby First United
Methodist Church, and was the widow of Joe Morris, whom she
married in 1925 in Roby. Survivors include three daughters,
Orlena Lay of Hermleigh, Mincola Parker of Roby and Natalie
Gribbins of Flower Mound; one brother, Ed Neves of Big Spring
eight grandchildren; 14 great~grandchildren; and two
great-great-grandchildren.

Robert "Pete' Morris, 64, of Burleson died Sunday at his
home.\par Graveside services will be at 1:30 p.rn. Wednesday in

Godfrey-Neese Funeral Home. Mr. Morris was born in Gorman arid
was employed by General Motors for 39 years. He was an Army
veteran of the Korean Conflict and a mem\-ber of F'irst Baptist

Perry Morris, 81, died Saturday in an
Abilene hospital. Rosary will be said at 7 pm. today in McCoy
Funeral Home Chapel of Memories. Mass will be at 10 a.m. Monday
in Holy Family Catholoic Church with the Rev. Mike Goode
officiating. Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday in
Sunset Memorial Gardens in Odessa. Mrs. Morris was born in Uvalde
and graduated from Wink High School. She moved to the Odessa area
in 1938 and owned and operated a grocery store for many years.
She worked for Furr's Groceries about eight years and moved to
Sweetwater in 1994. She was a member of Holy Family Catholic
Church and was the widow of Willjam Fred Morris Sr, whom she
married in 1934 in Pecos. Survivors include one son, William Fred
\'93Bill" Morris of Sweetwater; one brother; William Perry
of Rochester, Minn. ; two grandchildren; and two
great-grandchildren.

Joel B. Morris, age 78, of Weatherford, Texas, died Monday,
September 11, 1997, in a Weatherford nursing home after a lengthy
illness. Services will be at 11:00 A.M., Thursday, September 25,
1997 in White's Chapel of Memories in Weatherford with Rev. Steve
Shelton, Pastor of the Pioneer Drive Baptist Church, Irving, TX,
officiating. Interment will follow at 2:00 P.M., Thursday
September 25, 1997, at Eastland Cemetery, Eastland, Texas.
Arrangements are under the direction of White's Funeral Homes,
130 Houston St., Weatherford,TX. Mr. Morris was born in Ladonia,
Texas on May 5, 1919 to Beulah Gilliam Morris and John F. Morris.
He served in the U.S. Anity for seven years and retired from the
U.S. Air Force in 1967 after 24 years of service. He served in
both World War II and the Korean War. He was a former resident of
Abilene, but moved to Weatherford January, 1996, to be close to
his family He had lived in Abilene most of his life. Mr. Morris
was preceded in death by his former wife and dear friend, Mozell
Morris, who died October 24, 1996, and a grand son, Kristopher
Kane Morris, who died September, 1992. He is survived by his
children, Joe and Jan Morris of Irving, TX; Judy and Tom Haltom
of Delores, CO; Kenneth and Pat Morris of Southlake, TX; Bobby
and Lisa Morris of Irving TX; and Betty and Danny Gonzales of
Weatherford, TX. He is also survived by twelve grandchildren,
seven great-grandchildren , four step-children and several
step-grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Visitation will be
from 6:00 to 8:00 PM., Wednesday evening, September 24, 1997 at

Gilbert R. Morris - 66, chief sanitarian for the Abilene - Taylor
County Health Department for 34 years until retiring, died Friday
in a local hospital. Services will be at 2 p-rn. Sunday in
Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home Chapel of Memories, 542 Hickory.
Burial will be in Fort Phantom Hill Cemetery in Jones County. Mr.
Morris was born in Nugent in Jones County and was a lifelong
resident and Taylor counties. He graduated from Abilene High
School and Hardin-Simmons University. He served with the U.S.
Navy during the Korean conflict and received a Good Conduct Medal
and Expert Pistol Award. He married Delora Strickland in 1953 in
Abilene and was a rancher. He was a past president of the Texas
Sanitarian Association and Fort Phantom Hill Cemetery
Association, and was a life member of Veterans of Foreign Wars
Post 2012. He was a member of Crescent Heights Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife of Abilene; one son, Brent Ray Morris
of Abilene; one daughter, Darla Johnson of Hamlin; his mother and
stepfather, Merle Marris and E.E. Bristow of Hawley; three
brothers, R. M. "Bob" Morris, Gary Morris and David G.
Morris, all of Abilene: three sisters, Rosa\par Jean Wilson and
Donna Marshall, both of Abilene, and Judy Foller of Tullahoma,
Tenn; and two grandchildren. Memorials may be sent to West Texas

Charles Mc Kay Morris, 68,
formerly of Abilene, died Tuesday at his home from an apparent
heart attack. The body will be cremated. A memorial service is
will be at 2 P. M. in University Church of Christ in Abilene.
Arrangements are being made by Farrar Funeral Home. Mr. Morris
was born in Abilene and graduated from Abilene Christian
University, in 1949. He was the son of the late A. B. Morris,
longtime atheletic director at Abilene Christian University. He
was a U. S. Naval officer in the 1950's before becoming the
basketball coach at David Lipscomb College in Nashvile, Tenn. He
was atheletic director of High Point College in High Point, N. C.
He then was a executive of the National Association of
Intercollegiate Athletics from 1969 until retiring in 1991. He
oversaw the the NAIA's football. basketball, and tennis
tournaments, among other activities, and lived in Kansas City,
MO., and Tulsa, Okla. He later coached the William Jewel College
tennis team in Liberty, MO. He is a member of the NAIA Hall of
Fame. He moved to Jefferson City in 1994 and was active with Big
Brothers/Big Sisters. Survivors include his wife, Janet Morris of
Jefferson City; two daughters, Rebecca Morris of Boston and Susan
Morris of Boulder, CO.; five stepchildren; his mother, Rebecca
Morris of Abilene; and three grandchildren.

Hobby Morris, 80, died Friday in a local hospital. Services
will be at 1 p.m. Friday in Macedonia Baptists Church with the

Mr. Morris was born in Frisco in Collins County, where he
attended school, and moved to Taylor County more than 50 years
ago from Denton. He worked at the Abilene Municipal Airport for
more than 27 years until retiring and was a Baptist. Survivors
include one son, James Allen Morris of Baltimore; one daughter,
Hazel Ann Jackson of Washington, D.C.; three brothers; Virgie
Morris. Elmer Morris and Gene Morris, all of Denton; one sister,
Bobbie Wheeler of Denton; 10 grandchildren; and 10 great
grandchildren. Visitation will be from 5-7:30 p.m. Thursday in
the funeral home.

James A. Morris, 80, died Tuesday in a Brownwood hospital.

Home of Early. Mr. Morris was born in Washington, Pa., and served
with the U.S. Army during World War II. He worked for El Paso
Natural Gas Co. for many years in Sonora until retiring in 1979
and then moved to Blanket. He was a member of First Baptist
Church and was the widower of Nettie Lou Albert Morris, whom he
married in 1959 in Sonora. Survivors include one daughter; Judith
Phillips of Washington, Pa.; three stepdaughters, Brenda Jones of
Comanche, Linda Minor of Minor of Marlin and Deborah Weaks of San
Angelo: seven grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.\par

A. Preston Morris, 71, died Monday at a local hospital.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Calvary Baptist Church

will be in Handley Cemetery, directed by Riker-Seale Funeral
Home. Mr. Morris was born in Mitchell County and was a retired
farmer and an Army veteran of World War II. He was a member of
Calvary Baptist Church and of various boards in the county,
including Mitchell County Hospital board of trustees. He married
Jean Lankford in 1988 in Colorado city. Survivors include his
wife of Colorado City; three sons, Tommy Morris and Kirk Morris
both of Colorado City, and Scott Morris of Snyder; one brother;
Price Morris of Marble Falls; two sisters, Cleda Goswick of
Hobbs, N.M., and Betty Dockery of Colorado City; and 11
grandchildren.

Mrs. Morris worked for 10 years as a waitress at Tye Truck Stop
after moving to Abilene in 1985. She was born in Leesville and
attended public schools in San\par Antonio, where she married
Johnny Morris in 1982. She was a member of Church of Christ.

sisters, Hazel Tabers of Mayfield, Kent., and Verona Robbins of

Loretta Morris EASTLAND - Loretta Morris,
87, died Tuesday in an Abilene hospital. Services will be at 4
p.rn. today in Bakker Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Marc
Rogers officiating. Burial will be in Eastland Cemetery. A home
economics teacher at Eastland High School for 28 years, Ms.
Morris was born in Carbon. She graduated from Carbon High School,
and earned a bachelor's degree at Texas State College for Women
and a master's degree at Southwest Texas State University. She
retired ftom Eastland High School in 1972. She was a member of
First United Methodist Church the Suzannah Wesley Class, United
Methodist Women and Texas State Teachers Association. Survivors
include two sisters, Opal Morris of Eastland and Estalee Morris
Price of Mexia; one brother, Guy Morris of Eastland; and several
cousins.

"Pat" Morris, 46, lifelong Mitchell County resident,
died Wednesday in a local hospital. Services will be at 10 a.m.

in Colorado City. He worked in the oil field and was a member of

"Charlie" Morris, 84, died
Saturday at the VA Medical Center in Big Spring, Texas. Services
will be at 10:00 a.m. Tusday at the Elliot-Hamil Chapel of
Memories, 542 Hickory. Burial will be in Elmwood Memorial Park
with the Rev. Rick Doyle officiating. Mr. Morris was born in
Wichita Falls, Texas, on January 29, 1914. He was a self-employed
furniture upholster and had also worked for the U.S. Postal
Service in the maintenance division. He attended public school in
Fort Worth and Paschal High School, also in Fort Worth. He was a
member of Elmwood West United Methodist Church. On December 15,
1946, he married Della Christopher in Weatherford and moved to
Abilene from Ft. Worth in 1952. Mr. Morris was a U.S Navy WWII
veteran; a life member of VFW Post 2012; Disabled American
Veterans Post 36; American Legion; John Sayles Lodge #1408; Suez
Temple; Abilene Shrine Club; Abilene Shrine Klown Unit; and
Scottish Rite Bodies of Lubbock, Texas. Survivors include his
wife, Della, of the home: one daughter, Peggy Tate of Arlington;
two grandchildren, Shannon Jones of Abilene and Jason Bergin of
Arlington; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in
death by a daughter, Vicky Morris Wmberley on July 8, 1992. The
family will receive friends at Elliott-Hamil Funeral Homes, 542

BROWNWOOD - Norman F. Morris, 66, co-owner and operator of Norm's
Diesel Service from 1976-96, died Wednesday in a local hospital.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday in Heritage Funeral Home
Chapel in Brady with the Rev. Tony King officiating. Burial will
be in Resthaven Cemetery in Brady. Local arrangements were made
by Davis-Morris Funeral Home. Mr. Morris was born in Rattle Snake
Point in McCulloch County and married Alice Elaine Cowen in 1958
in El Centro, Calif. He moved to Brownwood in 1970. Survivors
include his wife of Brownwood: two sons, Ronald K Morris and Rick
Morris, both of Brownwood; one daughter, Renee Fish of Ingleside;
one sister, Barbara Morgan of Brownwood; and four grandchildren.
The body will be at Davis-Morris Funeral Home until 1 p.m. today,
then taken to Brady.

Ethel Stevenson Morris, 91, died Thursday in a local
hospital. Services will be 11:00 A.M. Saturday at the First
Church of the Nazarene with The Reverend Garland Wallace, Pastor,
officiating. Burial wilL be in Elmwood Memorial Park directed by
Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home, 542 Hickory. Mrs. Morris was born to
Mr. and Mrs. Charley Harry in Cooper; TX on August 11, 1906. She
married J.P. Stevenson on January 24, 1925 in McKinney, TX. The
couple moved to Abilene from Greenville in 1928. Mr. Stevenson
had owned and operated Barq's Bottling Co. and Stevenson Fence
Co. He preceded her in death. She married J.D. Morris on August
20, 1978 in Abilene. He preceded her in death in 1986. Mrs.
Morris was also preceded in death by two sons, Joe Delbert
Stevenson in 1928 and Dewie 0. Stevenson in 1989; three sisters,
and four brothers. She worked eight years at Thornton's
Department Store and had also worked at Penney's and LaMode. She
was a volunteer for many years with the Ladies Auxiliary at
Humana Hospital. She had been a faithful and active member of the
Nazarene Church since 1929. She sang in the church choir for 40
years. She is survived by one daughter-in-law, Doris Stevenson of
Big Spring, TX; one brother; C.L. Harry of Garland, TX; two
granddaughters, Pattie Stevenson-Brown of Los Alamos, N.M. and
Christy Kimble of Edmon, OK; and two great-granddaughters.

Farmed Near Madison For Half Century;Died Yesterday At Hospital
Funeral services for Samuel Lester Morris, 71, were held today at
1 p.m. from Laughlin Service Chapel. Burial will follow at
Madison Cemetery. Mr. Morris, a resident of Madison for 55 years,
where he was a farmer, died yesterday at Huntsville Hospital
following an illness of seven months. He is survived by seven
sons, Guy Emory, Ira Calvin, Smmy Don, Milton Harrington, Edmond
Franklin, Charles Edward and Bobby Ray Morris; four daughters,
Ruby Irene, Vivian Orlean, Mae Agnes and Janie Etoile; and three
sisters, Mrs. Essie Powell, Mrs. Sadie Tribbel and Mrs. Hattie
Powell. Pallbearers will be Archie Morris, Harry E. Tribble,
Walter Morris, Eugene Powell Jr., Morris Tribble and Beadle

Mrs. Agnes Theresa Morris, 77, of Rt. 1, Madison, will be hildat
2 p.m. Thursday at the Parker Methodist Church. Mrs. Morris died
last night at a Tuscaloosa hospital after a long illness. Rev.
Jack Gray will officiate and interment will be in the Madison
Cemetery.The body will be at the chapel of Laughlin Service
Funeral Home until one hour before service, when it will be moved

Is Held Today Mrs. Bertha Irene Tribble, 52, wife of Hopkins
Tribble of near Madison, diedearly Sunday morning at her home.
The funeral rites were conducted today at 3 o'clock, in the
Methodist church at Madison by the Rev. D.W. Adkins. Burial was
in the Madison Cemetery, Laughlin Service directing. Mrs. Tribble
had not been ill. She died of a stroke substained late in the
night, after having been about her household duties as usual on
Saturday. Surviving besides the husband are three daughters, Mrs.
Claude Cole, Madison, and Earline and Joyce Tribble, both at
home; five sons, Pvt. Morris Tribble, U.S.Army, and Alonzo
Tribble, U.S. Navy, Clifford Ray, Dean and Billy Tribble, all at
home; L.E. Powell, all of Madison; four brothers, T.C. Morris and
E.B. Morris, Madison, Theo Morris, Decatur, and S.L. Morris,
Arkansas. There are four grandchildren. Pallbearers at the burial
today were Theo Morris, E.B. Morris, Walter Morris, Harvey
Tribble, Beadle Powell and Vernon Morris. Melanie Morris Sussner
She was a Morris before marriage.

Oklahoman 29 May 1998 Morris, Grover L., Sr., 88, passed away on May 17, 1998 in Oklahoma
City. He was born on March 1, 1910 in Garner, Arkansas and raised
in Newport, Arkansas where he graduated from high school in 1928.
He worked for the Oklahoma State Highway Department until he
received a bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering from Oklahoma
A&M, Stillwater, in 1940. He married Delma Ruth Bassler of
Hydro in November 1940, began working for the Oklahoma State
Health Department in Oklahoma City and was commissioned in the U.
S. Public Health Service. In 1947 he received a master's degree
from the University of Michigan and then became the Engineering
Director of Waste Treatment for Oklahoma City until 1957. He was
City Manager of Norman from 1957 to 1960 at which time he went on
active duty for the U. S. Public Health Service until his
retirement in 1994. He was active in the church and the Masonic
Lodge. He is survived by his son, Grover Jr. and three
grandchildren, Lee, Mindy and Melissa. He lives on in the
memories of his family, friends and all of those whose lives he
touched. Services will be held Saturday, May 30, 1998 at 2:00
p.m. at the Grace United Methodist Church with interment to
follow in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens. Bill Merritt Bethany.

Jeannie MORRIS WILLIAMS - M.E. MORRIS, retired farmer and one of Jefferson county's best loved and most useful citizens, died suddenly at his home in Waurika Wednesday morning, Sept. 5, of a heart attack. Mr. MORRIS had not been in good health for some time and left the farm to move to Waurika in August 1950 on the advice of his doctor. Mr. MORRIS was born near Tina, Carroll, Missouri, February 17, 1885, and moved with his parents to the Indian Territory in what is not Carter county when he was ten years old. He was married to Miss Etta WELCH in 1905 and they moved to Jefferson county i 1907 and settled in the Madden Grove community where they resided until moving to Waurika. Four children were born to Mr. and Mrs. MORRIS, all of whom survive: Mrs. L.L. LINDESMITH, Waurika, Route 1; Mrs. O.V. CHURCHMAN, Sutherlin, Oregon; Thomas Elmer MORRIS, Drain, Oregon; L.H. MORRIS, Foraker, Oklahoma. Two brothers and one sister survive: G.H. MORRIS, Electra, Texas; Mrs. Rosa SHACKLEFORD, Montague, Texas; W.R. MORRIS, Ardmore. in Waurika First United Methodist Church for Mrs. Etta (WELCH) MORRIS, 84 who died Thursday in a Waurika nursing
home. The Rev. Theo Benson, pastor, will be in Waurika Cemetery
under direction of Worley Funeral Home. Mrs. MORRIS was born Aug.
2, 1886, in Wise County, Tex., and moved with her family to
Newport, Indian Territory, where she maried Marion MORRIS in
1905. She had been a resident of Jefferson City since that time.
She is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Esta LINDESMITH of Iowa
Park (TX) and Mrs. Hazel CHURCHMAN of Aberdeen Wash.; two sone,

and died at the home of her son. M.E. (Marion Elmer) MORRIS, in
the Madden Grove community, Friday, April 18, at 12:30 a.m. with
interment at the Lone Grove cemetery Saturday afternoon at 2:00
o'clock, where shw was laid to rest by loved ones who had
prededed her in death. She was married to Thomas Jackson MORRIS
in 1880 and to this union four children were born, a daughter and
three sons. They are Mrs. Rosa SHACKLEFORD, bowie, Texas; G.H.
MORRIS, Electra, Texas; M.E. MORRIS of this community and W.I.
MORRIS of Lone Grove, who with 17 grandchildren and a host of
friends survive her.

in Carrollton Democrat 23 July 1937 Mary Alice Timbrook, daughter of Henry and Tabitha
(WOLVERTON)TIMBROOK, was born in Shelby County Missouri, May 21,
1850 and passed away at the home of her daughter Mrs. Marshall
STANDLEY, north of Tina on Tuesday, July 13, 1937, at 3 a.m. at
the age of 87 years, 1 month and 21 days. Her parents were
natives of Virginia, coming to Missouri and first settling in
Shelby County. They later moved to Carroll County and settled in
the Sugartree community where she grew to womanhood. She was the
oldest of ten children. On May 15, 1870, she was united in
marriage to William MORRIS. They then came to live in the Stokes
Mound community, where she spent the rest of her days, excepting
about 5 years when she made her home in Braymer, and cared for
her mother who passed away in 1920. The past 17 years she made
her home with her daughter, Mrs. STANDLEY.

as written in the Carrollton Democrat William Jackson MORRIS was born in Howard County, Missouri, December
6, 1843, died June 5, 1915, age 72 years 5 months and 29 days.
In 1870 he was married to Mary Alice TIMBROOK and to that union
was born six children, five girls and one boy. Four have gone on
before. He lieaves to morn his death, a wife, one son, one
daughter, three brothers, two sisters and a host of relatives and
his friends are numerous, we know by the life he lived. In his
early life he joined the M.E. Church, South, and has lived a
faithful one until the end, and when so near the last he said:
"I am ready and feel I will meet my loved ones on the other
side who have gone before." Funeral was conducted by W.C.
Baird at Coloma Baptist Church to a large gathering of friends
afterwhich the body was laid to rest in Coloma cemetery.

Hopital following an illness of several years. He had been a
resident of Canton for 35 years. Mr. Morris was born in Tredagar,
South Wales, Great Britain in 1860 and came to this country with
his parents when he was 18 months old. Prior to his retirement 15
years ago, he was employed at the Metropolitan Life Insurance Co.
Mr. Morris was a member of Lowell Reformed Church, McKinley
Lodge, F. & A. M., Lake Erie Consistory of the Scottish Rite,
Knights Templar and Al Koran Shrine of Cleveland, Nazir Grotto,
Knights of Pythias and I.O.O.F. of Mineral City and Rebekah Lodge
of Uhrichsville. Surviving are his widow Mrs. Catherine
Morris(nee Zimmer) of the home; three daughters, Mrs. Harry N.
Demille of Minneapolis, Mrs. Alfred Miller and Mrs. Lyman McQueen

Canton 40 years ago. She was the widw of Thomas R. Morris, who
died in 1946. During her residence here Mrs. Morris was an active
member of Lowell Reformed Church. She was a member of the Canton
Chapter of the Eastern Star, Rebekah Lodge, Pythian Sisters and a
past President of Women's Benefit Assn. Surviving are two other
daughters, Mrs. H.N. DeMille of Minneapolis, Minn. and Mrs.

W. Va. and C. R. Morris of Lakewood; two brothers, Charles of
