      1.  Raiford Allen Moseley, born July 10, 1897 in Clay County Florida; died October 14, 1972 in Baldwin Florida.  He was the son of 2. William M. Mosley and 3. Ella Mae Roberts.  He married (1) Callie A Williamson June 27, 1923 in Clay County Florida.  She was born November 19, 1900 in Jacksonville Florida, and died March 21, 1991 in Jacksonville Florida.  She was the daughter of Benjamin Thomas Williamson and Angia Line Mosley.

 

Notes for Raiford Allen Moseley:

When Raiford applied for his social security and received his first check it was spelled Moseley. He never changed the mistake and simply added another e to his mailbox. When he died and social security paid his death benefit that same e was extended to his tombstone. He was Raiford Mosley the Moseley was simply a mistake that was never corrected.

      2.  William M. Mosley, born August 18, 1870 in Georgia; died March 05, 1920 in Jacksonville Florida.  He was the son of 4. William Jackson (nee OLIVER) MOSLEY and 5. Sarah "Sally" MOSLEY.  He married 3. Ella Mae Roberts October 18, 1893 in Duval County Florida.

      4.  William Jackson (nee OLIVER) MOSLEY, born June 02, 1834; died October 10, 1923 in Clay County, FL.  He was the son of 8. Cuyler Phillips MOSLEY and 9. Mary OLIVER.  He married 5. Sarah "Sally" MOSLEY June 17, 1864 in Montgomery County, GA  - Book A, page 126.

      5.  Sarah "Sally" MOSLEY, born 1846.  She was the daughter of 10. Seaborn MOSLEY and 11. Margaret MOORE.

Cuyler P. Mosley had William's name legally changed from OLIVER to MOSLEY February 16, 1850, Montgomery County, GA.

 

After William's marriage to Sally Mosley, they moved to Clay County, FL, and lived on a farm next to her brother, William; later, they moved to Duval County, FL.

      8.  Cuyler Phillips MOSLEY, born 1810; died April 02, 1855 in Emanuel County, GA.  He was the son of 16. William Brantley MOSLEY and 17. Sarah PHILLIPS.  He married 9. Mary OLIVER Bef. 1829 in Unmarried; lived separately, according to his descendants..

Notes for Cuyler Phillips MOSLEY:

He was killed (with a Bowie knife) in a "duel" with Matthew Williamson. This took place near where C.J. Phillips now lives on present-day Buck Corbin Road between Hwy. 297 and 46 in Emanuel County. Then Matthew was shot in the back by a Phillips kinsman of Cuyler's.

who died 2nd April 1855

Aged 45 years.

Served CSA in Co. G, 32nd GA.  Buried in a family cemetery south of Corinth Church in Emanuel County, according to Bo Mosley.  Mose Coleman's "Cemeteries of Emanuel County, Georgia" gives name of cemetery as Collins Cemetery:  from the center of Oak Park, go south about 1.7 miles on GA 86.  A trail to the left leads to the cemetery (0.5 mile); the trail follows a fence and then curves to the right and then back to the left.

Matthew left the Montgomery County area just prior to the War Between the States and moved to Clay County, FL.  Fought for CSA in Co. 11, Florida Infantry.  Several members of his family later moved to the same area. It seems that Mary stayed in the Montgomery-Emanuel area and raised her children there (per Bo Mosley).
