HISTORICAL INFORMATION

We are seeking your assistance to present a terrific display of family and local history in the Nimmitabel Pioneers’ Memorial Hall for the Back to Nimitybelle festival conjunction with the Centenary Nimmitabel Show over the weekend of 31 January to 2 February 2003.

Many families have made a significant contribution to the district and I am aware that an enormous amount of work has been done to document the history and achievements.

If you would like to join us and display any family historical research relevant to Nimmitabel, I would like to hear from you. Some assistance with display may be available. The Nimmitabel Pioneers’ Memorial Hall will be set up as a meeting place where

· the family and local historical materials will be on display

· at least one "Welcomer" will be on site all during opening hours

· information on all Festival activities will be available

· a message board will be set up as a contact point for visitors

· continuous tea and coffee will be available, and

· chairs and tables will be arranged to encourage discussion and relaxed browsing.

Other activities which complement our historical theme are:

· District development history display in Geldmacher House

· St Andrews Church open and displays at Convent and School

· Opening of Nimmitabel Police Station Museum

· Aviation of the Snowy Scheme display at the Nimmitabel Country Club

· Possible launch of the Nimmitabel Heritage Trail and its promotion/information materials

· Bus tours along the Heritage Trail for elderly and disabled, or possibly paying customers

· Grand Parade to feature historical segments to strengthen messages of past and present achievement

Please contact me at [email protected]  if you would like more information or to be involved with the Family and Local History displays.
