Knud and family, which consisted of Gunhild, their 4 children, 1 son-in-law, 1 Daughter-in-law, and 3 granddaughters, set sail from la Havere France about the 28th of June 1846 on board the sailing ship Elizabeth Bruce. They arrived in New York City on August 12, 1846. There were 234 passengers with them on the voyage including many others from the same part of Norway. The Family then made their way to Wisconsin to the Norwegian settlements at Jefferson Prairie, Rock County.
