This is a
copy of a page from Metryka Litewska (the official register of the Grand Duchy
of Lithuania) confirming a donation for the prince Semen Ivanovich Mozhayski.
It’s interesting that once he has been mentioned just as Semen Ivanovich (as he
should be), and another time as Semen Volodimirovich. This also implies that
the term “Volodimirovich” (Vladimirovich” in 15th century was used
to describe those princes, who were originating from St. Vladimir the Great,
the grand prince of Kiev.
The
document has been written in Latin alphabet, however, in ancient Belarussian,
being the official language in the Grand Duchy of Lithuania.
