Served in Battery G, 1st Michigan Artillary. Shot through the thigh at
battle of Pt. Gibson. Survived. Moved "up north" after coming home from the
war. Settled near the Big Rapids area of Michigan in an area taking in
NE corner of Newago Co. and SE corner of Lake Co. along their common line
with Mecosta Co. 1880 census, Barton Twp, Newago Co. Michigan.
Several records indicate his occupation was farming. Stanwood was his
address at time of death.
