Welcome to my web site!
This site features stories
of, and surrounding the emigration of my ancestors, from their 'old countries'
to New Zealand during the 19th century. These, and other 19th and 20th
century settler's are referred to in Maori as, "te tauiwi" - the
later immigrants, the first being the Polynesian ancestors of the Maori, who had
been living in New Zealand for several centuries. These earlier Polynesian
settlers are in contrast referred to as, "te tangata whenua" -
the people already here.
