Beuford Walden Sharp

Beuford Sharp was the youngest child of Lafayette and Mattie.  He was born on August 9, 1879 in Leake County, MS.

Beuford was a young man when his father died in 1896 at Edgewood, Texas.  Beuford and his family returned to Mississippi shortly after his father's death.

In 1898, with his mother, his brother Hillie, and Hillie's wife, Beuford returned to Edgewood, Texas., but then again returned to Leake County.  Beuford and his mother lived in Rocky Spring, Mississippi, where his uncle Joe Ware was pastor of the Methodist cicuit. 

 

He worked with a Mr. Clark, who inspired him to continue his education, so he returned to school.  At the end of the term he took a county exam, and obtained his license to teach. 

Beuford taught first at Lake, MS and then at Hope, in Neshoba County.

During this time he began reading medical journals, and the following year he enterethe Medical School of the University of the South, at Suwannee, Tennessee.

Beuford became an apprentice physician under a doctor at Freeny, in Leake

 

 County.  Later he went before the Board of Medical Examiners, and was granted a license to practice medicine in 1907. 

His first practice was at Klein, in Smith County.  After two years he bought out the equipment of Dr. Towsend in Hillsboro, Scott County. 

On April 27, 1908 Beuford married Clinnie Howard

Beuford was living in Hillsboro when he died on February 8, 1916.
