George Pierce Sharp was the third child of Fate Sharp, and his first child with Mattie Jane Ware. He was born on January 25, 1866 in Tallapoosa County, Alabama. Although he was born in Alabama, George grew up in Scott and Leake Counties, Mississippi. On August 4, 1886 George married Rhodie Ann Barber in the home of her father, in Leake County. George and Rhodie lived for a time in Zion and then in Harperville, Scott County. In 1913 they moved to Vernon, |
George Pierce Sharp Texas. They moved from Texas to Mississippi and back to Texas again, returning finally to New Albany Mississippi in their last days. |
Rhodie died in
1948, and was buried at Harperville. George outlived Rhodie by 6
years. He died on December 15, 1954, and was buried with Rhodie in
Harperville.
