Robert Hilliard Sharp, Jr.

Hillie Jr. was born on Oct. 25, 1915 in Newton, MS.  He was the 5th child of Hillie Sr. and Dolly Sharp.  He was just a month old when his mother died in November 1915.

Hillie received his Bachelor of Science degree from Millsaps College, in Jackson,  MS.

He was working as a chemist when he volunteered for the Air Corps, when the U.S. entered World War II.  

Hillie received his basic training at Maxwell Field, Montgomery,

 AL.  He received additional training at Greenville Air Force Base in Greenville, MS, Eglin Field in Florida, Westover Field, MA, New London CT, and Mitchell Field, NY.  He was stationed at Bodney Field, Norfolk Co, England. 

Hillie died on June 9, 1944, when the plane he was flying over the English Channel was lost.  This was during the invasion of France by the Allied forces.
