Joseph Barksdale Ware

Joseph Barksdale Ware was born on August 14, 1814, the 7th child of Robert and Mary Ware.

On September 27, 1838 Joseph married Margaret Elizabeth Calhoun, in Lincoln County, GA. 

Joseph and Margaret lived their first years together in a house that straddled the Wilkes/Lincoln County line. They went on to have seven children together.

Joseph was an ordained Methodist minister, and during the Civil War he served churches in Meriweather County, GA and then Notasulga, Lee County, AL. 

Joseph and Margaret moved to Mississippi in 1881.  He, with his sons and son-in-law, were instrumental in founding old Pine Grove Methodist Church.

Joseph and Margaret lived out the rest of their days in Mississippi.  Joseph died in September 1899, and is buried at Salem Cumberland Presbyterian Church, near Sebastopol.
