At present time, Mt. Zion Cemetery is in deplorable condition. There is a great deal of overgrowth and there are many young trees that were never intended to be a part of the landscape. The overgrowth can be cleared, but the trees will remain. When the place gets cleaned up it will be a nice, quiet, shady place to pay respects to our ancestors and to the Revolutionary War veteran buried there, Israel Jennings.

This page wil be dedicated to the restoration of the cemetery and a place to share historical information about Mt. Zion and the people buried there.

There are 28 known burials at Mt. Zion. The following list was provided by Lana Taylor and Dan Todd. Lana obtained the information from a Lawrence County Cemetery book (title unknown, but possiblyStalker School Little Hoosiers) during a visit to Bloomington but that list did not have the Blackwell's. Dan provided the Blackwell information he found on a trip to the cemetery. The cemetery is located on what used to be known as the Armstrong Farm.
