We are Marty and Pat Murray, the administrators of the Murray Family Tree DNA Project! We are working together with Allen Murray, Administrator of the [email protected] list. In this project, we hope to uncover new relationships, to batter brick walls, and to connect with other Murray researchers. We believe DNA testing is a valuable new tool for genealogists, helping us to further our research.
MURRAY, MURREY, MURRY, MURIE, McMURRAY, MERRY,MORAY,MURRAH and any other reasonable spelling variations are welcome to join the project. Only males have Y-chromosomes, so only male MURRAY/etc. can participate. If you are female, you can have a male MURRAY/etc. relative submit a sample for your line. To participate meaningfully, testees will need to share their direct male line ancestry back to the earliest known MURRAY/etc., either in the form of a pedigree chart or, preferable, family group sheets (excluding living persons).
Surname projects receive discounted prices at FamilyTree DNA. After you register you will be given the web address where you will order your test for the Murray Project and receive this discount. Be careful to choose the correct Y-DNA kit from their large drop-down list of tests available. The Y-DNA 12 marker test costs $99 USD plus $2 shipping. The Y-DNA 25 marker test costs $169 USD plus $2 shipping. If a participant chooses a Y-NDA 12 marker test, he can upgrade his original test to a 25 marker test, without needing to resubmit another DNA sample, for an additional fee of $90 USD.
All fees are payable to FamilyTree DNA. We do not receive any money for this project and volunteer the time and efforts that go into it.
