New Stuff
1. Original page completed on 1 October 2000
2. The smaller North Bay satellite community cemeteries were processed and posted first from 1 October to 30 November 2000.
3. Larger North Bay cemeteries were completed between 1 December 2000 and 10 February 2001. There is one cemetery left to complete in the City of North Bay. It is St Mary's cemetery which is a predominently Roman Catholic cemetery and I should have it completed by mid to end March 2001.
4. St Mary Cemetery Blocks N, O and P were posted on the website 8 Feb 2001
5. St Mary Cemetery Blocks l, and M were posted on the website 10 Feb 2001
6. St Mary Cemetery was completed 25 Feb 2001. This completes the posting of all gravemarker photos taken during summer 2000. Stay tuned for new additions in the spring and summer 2001.
7. Nipissing Village, Restoule, Chalk River, Haley Station and Stonecliffe Cemeteries were completed by 1 May 2001.
8. Nipissing First Nation, Powasson and Chisholm Township cemeteries were completed by 11 May 2001.
9. Over the summer 2001, cemeteries in Sturgeon Falls to the West, Sundridge to the South, Temagami to the North and Mattawa to the East were completed by 9 September 2001.
10. In response to several queries, a narrative dealing with donations to offset rising costs will be added to the site. Despite the climbing costs, the Web Site will continue to have free access, continue to increase in size, but at a slower rate; and with the continued support from Rootsweb.Com. See the "Click here if you would like to assist this project" link towards the bottom of the front page.
11. Over the winter 2001/2002 I started adding nostalgic photographs to the website. These pictures are of landmarks, and group pictures of school classes for instance. The "Nostalgic Buttons" to click, are located immediately below the Cemetery Buttons in each village/town section. In May 2002 I photographed the cemeteries in the Parry Sound area and consequently have completed about 99% of Parry Sound District cemeteries. Add to that, 99% of the Nipissing District cemeteries and the current total of gravenmarkers on display now totals 35,000 plus.
12. The big news in the January 2003 is the massive move of the web site to a new server. I am sure the new server will be enjoyed as much as the last one...if not more....!
13. Here we are in May 2003. I have made Renfrew County my top priority for 2003. In May I have completed the White Lake and Goshen Cemeteries in McNab Township; and St. Timothy's cemetery in the town of Pembroke. New friends of mine in the Pembroke area have volunteered to help out and will work on cemeteries in the Pembroke area. In addition, I photographed the Temiskaming QC cemetery where many folks from Thorne and Eldee Ontario are buried.
14. Here we are in March 2004. During the past 10 months I have spent a lot of time in Renfrew County and Sudbury District. When you browse to these two Areas you will see an addition of 10,000 photographs thanks in part to volunteers in Pembroke and Sudbury. In addition to these new grave marker pictures you will notice in the Historic/Nostalgic Area that I have added some year books from North Bay Normal School...later called Teachers College. A new search engine will now bring results from the grave marker and the nostalgic areas.
15. Here we are in June 2004. During the past 4 months I have spent a lot of time in Renfrew County. When you browse to this County, you will see the addition of 1,500 photographs in the St. Columba (RC) Cemetery in The Town of Pembroke; plus a few hundred pictures of the stones in the 4 cemeteries in The Town of Alice. I have also photographed (but not posted on the Web Site yet) the remaining Areas in the St. Francis Xavier (RC) Cemetery, the Thomsonville Cemetery and two Renfrew Pioneer Cemeteries in The Town of Renfrew. In addition to these new grave marker pictures you will notice in the Historic/Nostalgic Area that I have added some more yearbooks from North Bay Normal School...later called Teachers College. A new search engine (with detailed instructions) in the Nostalgic/historic Section will now bring results from the grave marker and/or the nostalgic areas.
16. IMPORTANT CHANGE: In the past, the search engine on this web site would bring up results from the Gravemaker Gallery and the Historic/Nostalgic Section and these mixed results caused some consternation because one would have to sift through the long list of Mixed Hits to find a gravestone or school yearbook result. This problem has now been solved. There is now a separate search engine in the Gravemarker Gallery and a separate search engine in the Historic/Nostalgic Section.
