Jennie M. Baade, Whitehall.             Jennie M. Baade, age 89 of Whitehall, passed away December 30, 2006 in Muskegon.  She was born October 8, 1917 in Muskegon, the daughter of Sylvester and Mercile (Lamb) House.  She was raised in Oceana County.  She moved to Whitehall upon her marriage to Raymond Baade on August 29, 1934.  From 1940 to 1950, the Baade's lived in Shelby.  They resided in Pentwater from 1950 to 1965 when they returned to Whitehall.  Mr. Baade passed away on November 28, 1975.  Mrs. Baade and her family formed a musical group called the Gospel Heirs.  She played the accordion and sang.  She also loved to crochet and knit.  Mrs. Baade is survived by her children, Jennie (Don) Dykman, Donna Zatzke, Rodney (Sande) Baade, Wayne (Donna) Baade and Ray Baade; her brother, Harry House; sisters, Doris (Carl) Brandel, Cecile Brandel and Joyce (Frank) Dykman; many grandchildren, great and great-great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews.  She was also preceded in death by her son, Delbert and sister, Grace Wittkamp.  The funeral service was held Thursday, January 4, 11a.m., at Harris Funeral Home in Shelby, with Pastor Rob Henderson officiating.  Interment was in Mt. Hope Cemetery, Shelby.  Memorials to the American Diabetes Association, 648 Monroe Ave., NW, Grand Rapids, MI 49503, are appreciated.  You may leave a message of condolence for the family at www.harrisfhome.com.

GEORGE BAART, PUPIL AT ST. MARY’S SCHOOL, DIES   George Baart, ten years old, son of Mr. and Mrs. Charles  J. Duffield of 177 East Larch avenue, died Saturday morning at Mercy hospital after a short illness.  He was born in Marshall,  December 23, 1915, coming to Muskegon with his parents eight years ago.  George was a pupil at St. Mary’s Catholic  school.  He leaves besides his parents, three brothers, Charles, Robert and Thomas Duffield at home.

BABBITT, MR. LYLE BRUCE, (Husband of Phyllis), Muskegon.  Mr. Lyle Bruce Babbitt, age 54, passed away Tuesday evening, December 19, 2000 following a lengthy battle with cancer.  He was born November 4, 1946 in Muskegon to Samuel and Nina (Webber) Babbitt and lived in the area his entire life.  He had worked as a delivery driver for Acme Cleaners prior to taking disability retirement in 1995.  On November 17, 1992, he married the former Phyllis M. Kratzer in Muskegon and she survives him along with his mother and sister, Nina and Lois Babbitt of Orlando, FL, and one brother Phillip Babbitt of Ypsilanti.  He was preceded in death by his father, and two brothers, Michael and Samuel, Jr.  A FUNERAL SERVICE will be held 11:00 AM Tuesday at the

Sytsema Funeral Home 737 Apple Avenue with the Rev. Donald LeMaire officiating.  INTERMENT will be in Fruitland Township Cemetery.  VISITATION will be one hour prior to the service, 10-11 AM Tuesday.  MEMORIAL CONTRIBUTIONS may be made to the family.

Mrs. Mary Bachanski, Resident Here 56 years, Dies Today   Mrs. Mary Bachanski, 74 years old, 584 West Webster  avenue, a resident of Muskegon for 56 years, died today in Mercy hospital after a two months illness.  Mrs.  Bachanski was the widow of the late Frank Bachanski who died June 1, 1914.  She was born in Berlin, Germany,  Jan 10, 1862 and came with her parents to Muskegon from Germany in 1880.  She was a member of St. Mary's  church.  Surviving are one son, Leo J. Bachanski, in Chicago; five daughters, Mr. H.L. Skidmore, Lansing; Mrs.  Fred Lembzeder, Milwaukee, Wis., Mrs. Henry Siplon, Muskegon Heights; Mrs. Helen Bogen, Muskegon; Mrs. H. B.  Tripp, El Paso, Texas, one brother, Joseph Marks, Grand Rapids, Wis., three sisters, Mrs. Frances Cheeseman,  Gary, Ind., and Mrs. John Bach, Muskegon, and five grandchildren.

Mrs. William Badeaux  Mrs. William Badeaux, 446 Grand avenue, died yesterday afternoon at Hackley Hospital after a five weeks illness, aged 77 years.  Mrs. Badeaux was born in  Totonto, Canada, coming to Muskegon about twenty-one years ago, where she has since made her home.  She was a member of the Baptist church.  She leaves besides her husband,  four children, William Badeaux of Holton; Pierre Badeaux of Muskegon; Mrs. J. D. Martin and Mrs. Louis Gatechair of Elgin, Illinois; eight grandchildren and one great grandchild; one  brother, Thomas Marshall of Grand Rapids.  The funeral service will be held at 10:30 o’clock tomorrow morning from the residence, 446 Grand avenue.  Burial will be in the Holton  cemetery.

WORKER FATALLY INJURED AT PLANT   Fred C. Badge, Crushed, Dies on Way to  Hospital  Fred C. Badge, 33 years old and married, died today on the way to Hackley  hospital following an accident at the plant of the Muskegon Malleable Castings company  when the worker was crushed between a tumbling barrel and the shaft along which it  travels.  He sustained a skull fracture.  A post-mortem examination was ordered by  Coroner Tiede Clock who has not yet decided whether he will call an inquest.  Mr. Badge  went to work for the Malleable company Monday.  He had been a foundry worker for  many years.

BALCOMB, DAVID JAMES VANDERMOLEN, Twin Lake, MI.  David James VanderMolen Balcomb, age 23, went home to be with Jesus on Tuesday morning, April 9, 1996.  David was born in Muskegon on June 30, 1972 and was a life long resident of the area.  David was born with Cerebral Palsey and was a blessing and joy to everyone around him.  He was a special education student at Reeths Puffer High School and a member of Dalton Baptist Church.  He is survived by his mother and father, Shirley Balcomb and Justus Balcomb, his mother and father Cynthia and James VanderMolen of Spring Lake; 3 sisters, Amy Hardy, Pamela Crawford and Mrs. Steve (Christina) Jensen; 3 brothers, Wyman (Candy) Balcomb, Kevin (Patricia) Balcomb and Garth (Kimberly) VanderMolen; his grandmother, Ruth Balcomb of Hesperia; grandparents, Pete & Jackie DeVries and William & Paula VanderSteldt and many nieces and nephews.  Funeral Services will be held Friday at 11:00 A.M. from the Ever Rest Runeral Home and Chapel, 1783 E. Baldwin of Montague, MI, and her children, Ted F. Slocum, Tamara Shan Silva, and Tobie Jeannine Scott. A private service was held on Sept. 5, 2006.  She had requested many times that she did not want a funeral, but to be cremated and have her remains spread over the lake with family members only present.

BALOGH, MR. STEVE F., Husband of Loraine, Muskegon.  Mr. Steve Balogh, age 76, died unexpectedly Wednesday morning, April 15, 1998, in Ludington.  He was born January 9, 1922 in Schackendorf, Austria, and came to the Muskegon area in 1929.  He worked at Michigan Spring for over 30 years, retiring in 1987, and was a WWII US Army veteran.  He loved hunting, fishing, traveling, and gardening.  On June 10, 1944 he married the former Loraine Berggren.  SURVIVORS include his wife, Loraine of Muskegon; 9 children, Judi Harris of Spring Lake, Colleen (& Richard) O’Neal, Stephen (& Anita) Balogh, Mary (& Kris) Johnson, all of Muskegon, Ronald Balogh of Littleton, CO, Anita Balogh, Paul (& Norma) Balogh, Barbara (& Doug) Chandler, Matthew (& Teresa) Balogh, all of Muskegon; 19 grandchildren; 1 expected great-grandchild; 1 sister, Rose Sibley of Ludington.  Visitation at  The Walburn Chapel  Sytsema Funeral Homes

Rites Here Today for Mrs. Balkema   Graveside services were held in St. Mary’s at 10 a.m. today for Mrs. John Balkema, who died  last week at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Samuel C. Smart, in Winnetka, Ill.  Services were conducted by Rt. Rev. K. J. Whalen, of  St. Mary’s church.  Mrs. Balkema’s husband, who died in 1900, was at one time, with his brother James of the present Buwalda store  in North Muskegon.

Muskegon Chronicle  Muskegon, Michigan  5 April 1946  Page 20  Mrs. Ballard, 69, Of Pioneer Family,  Montague, Dies  By Staff Correspondent  Montague, April 5, -- Mrs. Henry Ballard, 69 years old, of Montague township and a lifelong resident of Muskegon county, died today at the Hackley hospital.  The former Miss Hattie Catherine Grow, she was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Edwin Grow, pioneer residents of Montague town­ship.  She was born on May 10, 1876 and lived all her life in the county, on various farms.  She was a member of the Claybanks Methodist church and its Ladies' Aid society, and the Lady Maccabees.  She leaves her husband, one daughter, Mrs. William Clark, and two sons, Asul and Merle, all of Muskegon; one sister, Mrs. August Lauterberg, of  Claybanks; seven grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.  The body will lie in state at the Clock Funeral home in Muskegon from 10 a.m., Saturday until Sunday evening when it will be taken to the Gee chapel, Whitehall.  Services will be conduct­ed from the Gee chapel at 2 p.m. Monday, with the Rev. Clarence Hutchens officiating.  Burial will be at the Oakgrove cemetery.

Mr. Bancuk Dies at 72  Bert J. Bancuk, 72, of 3129 Glendale Ave., Muskegon Heights, died Monday at Hackley Hospital after a week’s illness.  Mr. Bancuk owned and operated the  Bancuk Meat Market with his brother for a number of years and was last employed at Campbell Wyant & Cannon Foundry, retiring in 1960.  Born Dec. 24, 1894 in Poland, he came to  the United States in 1912 and came to Muskegon from Grand Rapids in 1915.  He married the former Martha Janowski here on May 29, 1922.  He served in the U.S. Army during World  War I.  A communicant of St. Michael’s Catholic Church, he was active in the Polish Falcon Lodge.  He leaves his widow; a son, Marcell Bancuk, of Roosevelt Park; and three  grandchildren.

Mr. Bancuk, 72, Retired CWC Forman, Dies  Joseph Bancuk, 228 W. Dale avenue, a city resident 45 years and a former foreman at Campbell, Wyant and Cannon Foundry Company died  today at Mercy Hospital after a illness of three months.  He was 72 years old.  Mr. Bancuk, who was born in Poland, Nov. 22, 1884, came to the United States in 1905 and settled in  Grand Rapids.  Seven years later, he moved to Muskegon where he had lived since.  He married the former Miss Angela Panko at Muskegon Sept. 22, 1919.  A communicant of St.  Michaels’ Church, he was a member of the Polish Falcons Lodge No. 276 and the Muskegon Foremen’s Club.  He was a foreman the last 20 years of his 27 year employment at Campbell,  Wyant and Cannon Foundry Company.  He leaves his wife; three sons, Harry of Muskegon, Bernard of Grand Rapids, and Edward of Muskegon Heights; two daughters, Mrs. Richard  Frankowski of Detroit and Mrs. Leona Baker, of Muskegon, a brother, Bert, of Muskegon Heights and 16 grandchildren.

"Laid to Rest in Oakwood"   The funeral of John F. Bankey took place Sunday afternoon from the family residence, 155 Division street,  and was largely attended.  It was held under the auspices of the Modern Woodmen of America, of which organization the deceased was a  member.  The sermon was delivered by Rev. A. Hadden, of the First Congregational church, and the music was also furnished by members  of that church.  Interment was in Oakwood.

Herb Bard, Muskegon.  Mr. Herb Bard, age 85, died Sunday, December 3, 2006.  He was born in Muskegon on October 20, 1921 to Elmer & Augusta (Pierson) Bard and married the former Mary Ann Meinert on June 29, 1965.  Mr. Bard had been a salesman at Geerpres for 48 years until his retirement in 1983.  He was a U.S. Army Air Corps Veteran of WW II, a graduate of Muskegon Community College and Hope College, a charter member of Unity Methodist Church and a member of White Lake Golf Club.  SURVIVORS:  Wife, Mary Ann; brother, Douglas (Patricia) Bard.  SERVICE:  There will be no service.  MEMORIAL: VNS Hospice House.  Please visit www.lifestorynet.com to leave a memory or sign the online guest book.  CLOCK LIFE STORY – Muskegon

Boy, 9 Hit by Car, Is Cut About Head, Man Hurt in Crash  Harry Collins, nine years old,  574 Yuba street, sustained a small cut on the head at 12:25 p.m. Friday when an  automobile driven by Ira Towne, 37 of R.R. 4, struck the bicycle Harry was riding on  Jackson street.  Motorcycle officer Floyd Goschnick investigated.  The boy was taken to  a physician’s office and treated.  Henry J. Webber, 51 years old, of R.R. 3, Fremont, was  slightly injured on the right side of the face at 6:20 p.m. Friday when his car turned over  on the right side after colliding with an automobile driven by Evelyn Barling, 18 years  old, R.R. 4, Wolf Lake, at the Five Lakes and Mill Iron roads.

Danny Jay Barnes, Muskegon.  Danny J. Barnes, age 60, passed away on February 13, 2006.  He was born in Muskegon to the late Frank and Dorothy Barnes.  He is survived by his daughter, Terra (Gary) Kunish, and his grandson, Blake.  Also surviving is his beloved Beverly Ferrier, and her children and grandchildren; his siblings, John William (Pat), Gary Ronald (Ardele), twin sister, Sandy Kay (Court) Wood, Russell Dale, and Eugene Wesley (Marijo); along with several nieces and nephews.  Danny was a veteran of the United States Army serving during the Vietnam War.  He spent several years in Alaska driving truck and working in the logging industry.  He was a very, “very” avid storyteller and outdoorsman who enjoyed fishing, hunting and spending time in nature.  According to his wishes, cremation has taken place and a memorial service was held at Grace Lutheran Church, 300 E. Cleveland St., Coopersville, on Saturday, February 18, at 10:00 a.m.  Gifts in memory of Dan would be appreciated to help surviving daughter, Terra Kunish, with funeral expenses (Terra Kunish c/o Ever Rest Funeral Home & Chapel, 1783 E. Keating Ave., Muskegon, MI 49442).  Arrangements by Ever Rest Funeral Home & Chapel.

Former Resident Dies in Lansing   Funeral services will be held Monday from the  Thomas Chapel at Terre Haute, Ind. for Mrs. Chester Barr, a former Muskegon resident  who died yesterday at the home of a daughter, Mrs. James F. Grenawalt, Lansing.  Mrs.  Barr, who has spent about 10 years here, left last year to live in Lansing.  Burial will be at  Terre Haute.

Mrs. Genevieve Barr is Taken By Death.  Mrs. Genevieve Barr, 41 years old, Muskegon, RR 4, died  yesterday at Hackley hospital after a brief illness.  She was born Aug 17, 1888 in Cedar Creek township  where she grew to womanhood, coming to Muskegon about sixteen years ago.  She was married to Charles  Barr at Muskegon in 1913.  Mrs. Barr leaves her husband, one son, Thomas, at home, her mother, Mrs.  Nelson Bean of Cedar Creek township, four sisters, Mrs. John Edelman, Mrs Ben Warwick, both of  Muskegon, Mrs. Stanley Nylander of twin Lakes, Mrs. Adelbert VanDyke of Muskegon, five brothers,  William, Marshal, Peter, Nelson and Charles Bean all of Muskegon.
