| This cemetery is located off Highway 167 in a small town called Bayou Chicot. It is tucked away in the woods so you can't see it from the road. There is a small sign but even this is hardly visible unless you are looking for it.
I consider this to be my FAMILY cemetery. We have several generations of my father's side buried here. We are also related to MOST of the 711 residents. So far I have not uncovered ANY official records for this cemetery. The volunteer board does not record the burials. Neither does the city. I haven't even been able to uncover a land transaction for the acres involved. The only people that MIGHT have records are the funeral homes. But there have been so many throughout it's history that gathering it would take years. If you have ANY information or ideas on how the land was acquired I would be VERY interested in hearing it. |
