Widow's Application for Pension for Elizabeth Rebecca Scallorn Baker

Widow's Application
for Pension
for
Elizabeth Rebecca Scallorn Baker

Along with the Application for Confederate Pension for J. H. Baker was the Application for a Widow's Pension filed by his second wife, Elizabeth Rebecca Scallorn Baker. J. H. Baker married her after the death of his first wife, Martha Jane Mills in 1873. He and Elizabeth married November 26, 1874. Elizabeth (or "Betty" as she was referred to) was born on October 18, 1846 in Fayette County Texas. She died in Waco, McLennan County Texas on January 6, 1924 and is buried in the Greenwood Cemetery there. Her father was Thomas C. Scallorn and her mother was Miriam Speir. Apparently, Elizabeth, was living with one of her and J. H. Baker's daughter's, Emily Baker Null and her husband, J. W. Null when she passed away. The mortuary warrant states that J. W. Null to have been her son but he was indeed her son-in-law.

There are actually 6 pages in this application. Two of these pages have nothing on them and therefore I have not included them in the transcription.
