The information here begins with Cornelius Marion Hardy. His parents and ancestors are uncertain to me at this time. The reason for this is because his death certificate states his father's name was William and his mother's name was Jenny Lou Lane, both born in Georgia, as was Cornelius. However, it is my suspicion that his father was indeed William Hardy, but that his mother's name was Maria(h) Susan Duncan. There are several Hardy family trees on the internet that state this, as are there census records to support this, but I have not seen any other factual information to support that idea. Cornelius states in his Civil War pension application that he was from Jasper County, GA. Both William P. Hardy and Maria Susan Duncan lived in Jasper County, GA. Cornelius' children were born in GA according to census records and their death certificates, and his wife, Louisa Jane Lane was also from GA. In fact, one of Cornelius' sons, George E. Hardy's death certificate states he was born in Jasper County, GA. However I have found no records in GA that prove who his parents were; no birth records, Bible records, marriage records or Wills. Until I find factual documentation to support this thought, I will not include any of that information here. What you will find here, though, is the information I have on Cornelius and his descendants. Cornelius married Louisa Jane LANE More Info in GA. Louisa was born 26 Oct 1835 in GA and died 14 May 1890 in Morgan, Bosque County, TX. Cornelius is buried at Highland Cemetery in Lawton, OK. Headstone, and Lousia is buried at Morgan Cemetery in Morgan, TX.

Cornelius Marion Hardy served as a Confederate in the Civil War as a Sharpshooter. Listed below is some of his military information.

Enlisted as a Private on 08 February 1862 Enlisted in Company B, 6th State Troops Regiment Georgia on 08 Feburary 1862 Mustered out Company B, 6th State Troops Regiment Georgia on 15 April 1862 On Rolls on 18 April 1862 Promoted to Full Sergeant 5th Class on 18 April 1862 (Of Co. A, 32nd Regt. GA. Inf.) Enlisted in Company A, 32nd Infantry Regiment Georgia on 18 April 1862. Promoted to Full Sergeant 2nd Class on 30 July 1962 (Of Co. C, 1st Battn. GA Sharpshooters) Transferred in Company C, 1st Battn. SS Regiment Georgia on 30 July 1862 POW on 26 October 1864 at Decatur, AL Took Oath of Allegiance on 17 June 1865 at Camp Douglas, IL Released on 17 June 1865 at Camp Douglas, IL.
He applied for and received his Civil War pension in 1915.
