Henry and Sarah Kimmer were born, lived and died in North Carolina. They had eight children. Their youngest was John Kimmer. The information here covers the descendants of John. John Kimmer and Esther EPHARD were both born in North Carolina. They married there and had two of their nine children in NC before moving to Greene County, TN., then to Independence County, AR.

After settling in AR, John homesteaded 267 acres of land. He and his family farmed, and were well known in the area.

Two of the sons of John and Esther married into the FALLS family, and two of their daughters married into the FULLBRIGHT family. And, two of John and Esther's daughters married into the YORK family. All of these families lived nearby. Some of the descendants of John and Esther still live in Independence County, AR today.

Both John and Esther are buried in New Hope Cemetery near Bethesda, Independence County, AR, as are some of their descendants. Their headstones, though, are not in good shape at all, especially John's. I visited there in February of 2004 and found his headstone to be laying on the ground in several pieces. Since I know nothing about headstone repair, I didn't attempt to fix it. It appears that someone had made an attempt to repair Esther's headstone, and it is still upright.
