On January 31, 2002 I obtained and read the indexes to the deeds. The following deeds appeared of interest in the indexes:
Vol. IIpp. 200, 295, 471, 523, 525, 559, 560, 562, 572, 573,
574 and others.
Vol. IV pp. 7,8,123,179,320 and 321.
Those were all deeds under the Elder name, but I choose to review the early years.
The nos. of the rolls of microfilm were:
Vol. 1-2 1807-1817 862678
Vol. 3-4 1817-1822 862679
The films were ordered and were read on February 13, 2002:
As there were so many deeds I felt it best to abstract the contents
rather than copy each one.
Also, the writing was difficult to read at times, and would
not copy well:

There were a series of deeds involving the members of the family of Mary Elder, widow of John Elder who died in 1800 in Westmoreland Co., Ohio. It appears that John had left two parcels of land to his wife and children that they owned jointly. The series of deeds involved the sale of part of the land to one of the children with Mary and the rest of the children as grantors (sellers). Their names are mentioned in each deed, and each deed refers back to their father John Elder. If we did not already know the names of the family members it would have been a valuable way to establish lineage.

Grantee: Mary Elder and Alexander Thompson (executors of John Elder’s
estate)
Date: 7 June 1814
Vol/Page: Vol. 2, 471
This document mentioned the will of John Elder who died in 1800 in Armstrong Township, Westmoreland Co., PA. Apparently part of his land near Blackleg Creek had been sold (see below) and the three sons were entitled to the residue of the profits from the sale (after the estate was settled). The sons agreed with the settlement and released their quit claim.

The same type of deed was recorded for a sale of part of the land
to Joseph (P. 560). Sent previously.
In all of the deeds for the land along the Conemaugh it was mentioned
that Mary Elder would maintain the property.
This seems a bit unusual, and I don’t know the reason for it.
