JamesElderHighPtCem.htm From William Harrison ELDER:
Attached are photos of James Elder (1766-1843) and his wife Hannah Clark
Elder (1779-1847) tombstones. He is my ggg grandfather and is buried in
Springfield Friends Meeting cemetery in High Point, NC. They are among the
oldest tombstones that can still be read there. When I first saw them a
couple of years ago, they were readable, but they are in bad shape now. I
could not believe how they have deteriorated in that short period of time.
The inscription on his tombstone read "James Elder, who was born on March
4, 1766 and died on April 26, 1843". Hannah's stated that she was born
October 24, 1779 and died January 27, 1847. I never found mother Elizabeth
or brother John. There are a lot of unmarked graves at Springfield and
Ebenezer Methodist Church cemetery, where I suspect John is buried, as
several of his family are buried there. Most of my family is buried in
Hopewell Methodist Church cemetery and Mt. Vernon Methodist Church
cemetery.
