Ann Elder Brooks POE's entry in ELDER genforum
at
http://genforum.genealogy.com/elder/messages/1130.html
Ann died in 2004, but she had helped her male ELDER cousins participate
in the ELDER DNA project,
matching my brother's Y-DNA, which I have titled "FRANKLIN CO PA".
Ann wrote:
"John Elder was the brother of Stephen Elder both sons of Jacob
Elder.
Jacob's will names Stephen, Elijah, Hannah, and John Elder his children.
9th Feb. 1818, recorded in Lincoln Co KY.
Jacob Elder the son of Samuel & Hannah Elder
(Samuel is the Elder who died in Sevier Co TN 1811 and we have his
will.)
Jacob was living in Pulaski Co KY by 1807, tax list and first marriage
to Nancy Collier..."

The Death Record
Stephen C. Elder
Stephen C. Elder died at Lucas, Wednesday, October 19, 1898, aged
91 years and 6 months.
Deceased was born in Kentucky, April 9, 1807.
He moved from there to Indiana and from there to Iowa in 1849 and
settled at Round Grove, Marion county.
At the age of 20 years he was united in marriage to Miss Anna Stuart.
To this union 11 children were born:
Rev. Harrison Elder, of California;
Dr. Alfred, of Nebraska;
S. G. (Squire Griffin) of Knoxville;
Franklin P., of Council Bluffs;
Emily, now Mrs. Bonebrake, of Minnesota; who live to mourn the loss
of their father.
The children who preceded him were Rena (Mrs. Jenkins);
Josephine (Mrs. J.R. Sage); Martha (Mrs. Maddy); James and Winfield
Scott.
Probably no man in Marion county had a wider acquaintance than Father
Elder.
He was a fond father, a loving husband, a kind neighbor, loved and
esteemed by all who knew him.
The remains were brought from Lucas and interred beside those of
his beloved wife in Concord cemetery, Thursday, Oct. 20.
The services were conducted by Rev. Wright, of the Christian church
of this city.
"Stephen and Ann's son John Wesley's name does not appear in the
obit,
but he is still alive and well in Clay Co., Missouri in 1910."
