Previously served as Private in Company E , 1st Regiment NC Infantry (6 months, 1861).    Enlisted in this company 1 March 1862 for the war. Present or accounted for until  he deserted on 20 August 1863 Returned to duty on 24 October 1863 and present or accounted for until  he deserted to the enemy on 14  March 1865.  Released 18 March 1865 after taking the Oath of Allegiance.

Anderson, William W.   Sergeant
Previously served as Private in Company E , 1st Regiment NC Infantry (6 months, 1861).    Enlisted in this company 1 March 1862 for the war. Mustered in as Corporal and promoted to sergeant on 10 November 1862 Present or accounted for until  killed at Gettysburg, Pennsylvania on 1 July 1863.

Atkin, Thomas S.   Sergeant
Resided in Buncombe County  where he enlisted at age 18.  1 March 1863 For the war.   Mustered in as Private and promoted to Corporal on 1 September 1863. Promoted to Sergeant in September - October 1864. Present or accounted for until  captured at
Burgess' Mill Virginia 27 October 1864.   Confined at Point Lookout, Maryland where he died 8 January 1865 of "Chronic Diarrhoea"
Roll of Honor indicates he was wounded at Big Creek Gap Tennessee 4 March 1862.

Resided in Buncombe County  where he enlisted at age 18.  1 March 1862 For the war.     Present or accounted for until  he died "at home" 20 December 1862 of "fever".

Ball, Jeremiah C.   Private
Resided in Buncombe County  where he enlisted at age 21.  29 April 1862 For the war.     Present or accounted for until reported absent without leave 20 November 1863.
Listed as a deserter on 19 March 1864. 

Bartlett, Jacob S.   1st  Sergeant
Previously served as Private in Company E 1st Regiment NC Infantry (6 Months 1861).  Enlisted in this company 1 March 1862 for the war. Mustered in as Private and promoted to Corporal on 10 November 1862. Promoted to Sergeant in January 1864 and promoted to
1st Sergeant on 1 September 1864. Present or accounted for until paroled at Appomattox
Court House, Virginia,  9 April 1865.

Bartlett, James P.    Private
Resided in Buncombe County where he enlisted at age 38, 27 April 1863, for the war. Present or accounted for until captured at Gettysburg, Pennsylvania 3 July 1863.  Confined at Fort Delaware, Delaware until transferred to Point Lookout, Maryland 15 October 1863. Died at Point Lookout on 1 January 1864. Cause of death not reported.

Resided in Buncombe County where he enlisted at age 40,  27 April 1863, for the war. Present or accounted for until reported missing at Wilderness, Virginia 5 May 1864.

Resided in Buncombe County where he enlisted at age 18, 1 March 1863, for the war. Present or accounted for until wounded near Spotsylvania Court House, Virginia in May 1864. Reported absent wounded through February 1865. Roll of honor indicates he was also wounded at Blount's Creek on 18 April 1863.

3 July 1863.  Died in hospital at Gettysburg 10 July 1863 of wounds.

Resided in Buncombe County where he enlisted at age 18, 1 March 1862, for the war.  Mustered in as Private and promoted to Corporal 11 April 1864. Present or accounted for until wounded at Wilderness, Virginia 5 May 1864. Died in hospital at Gordonsville, Virginia 16 May 1864 of wounds.
