In this section you will find photographs of various cemetery grave markers. These can prove very useful to people from outside the area who are researching their family tree. Often, they can find a date of birth or date of death of someone they have been searching for. Depending on the style of gravestone, they might even get to see the names of some other family members they were not aware of. In some cases, a person gets to see the gravestone that marks the location of where their ancestor is buried for the very first time. Otherwise, they might never have had that opportunity. If they ever do decide to visit the gravesite in person, it makes it much easier to locate the grave as they already know what shape stone to look for. There is another very good reason to take and post photographs of our ancestors tombstones. Many of these ancient monuments are deteriorating beyond repair. By collecting these photographs and placing them on this site for everyone to share, we are preserving the information that is contained on them for future generations. |
