three of her sons captured in battle.

George Wade, (1747-1824), raised a company and marched to the relief of Charleston. He

was taken prisoner by Tarleton and was wounded in the battle of Savannah. He was born in

Joel Dean, (1755-1842), was a soldier at the battle of Guilford Court House. He was born in

Guilford county, N. C.; died in Spartanburg, S. C. Daniel McDonald, (1723-97), served in the

militia to defend South Carolina. He died in Lancaster, S. C. Thomas Wade, (1722-37), served

as colonel of minute men and as a member of the Provincial Congress of North Carolina, 1775.

1775. He was born in Woodbridge; died in Morristown, N. J.
