Frank Kealy Dies Sunday Services Tuesday for Longtime Businessman and Civic Leader Frank Kealy, 86, prominent Hastings businessman and civic leader, died Sunday morning at Mary Lanning Memorial Hospital following a short illness. Born in West Side, Ia., he was christened John Francis, but was known as Frank throughout his life. He moved to Hastings with his parents 80 years ago and for the past 56 years was engaged in the construction business. He started the Kealy Construction Company in 1910 and was active in the construction of scores of Hastings buildings during his career. He was a longtime horse fancier and did some racing with harness horses. CIVIC WORK He was a former member of the Hastings Housing Authority and a member of the board of trustees of Parkview Cemetery. Kealy served with Company K of the Third Nebraska Volunteers in Cuba during the Spanish - American War and was a past Nebraska Department Commander of the Spanish - American War Veterans. He was also a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and a charter member of the Knights of Columbus. He was a member of St. Cecilia's Church, where he and Mrs. Kealy were married in 1903. They celebrated their golden wedding anniversary in 1953 and Mrs. Kealy preceded her husband in death two years later. In 1955 he received a Papal medal from Pope Pius XII in recognition of his services "for the Pope and Church." He is survived by eight daughters, Mrs. J. J. Maher, Omaha; Miss Loretta Kealy, New York City; Mrs. Ralph Worden, Los Angeles, Mrs. R. C. McMurray, Coeur d'Alene, Ida.; Mrs. Ralph Miller, Mrs. D. B. Foote, Mrs. Richard Sheehy and Miss Josephine Kealy, all of Hastings; three sons, Richard J., Hastings, Monsignor Thomas and the Rev. Daniel, both of Lincoln; three sisters, Mrs. John Roth, Hastings; Mrs. Margaret Goodwin, Los Angeles, and Mrs. Aimee Vreeland, Omaha; 30 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. ROSARY MONDAY The Rosary will be recited Monday evening at 7:30 in the Butler-Volland Chapel with Monsignor Thomas Kealy, son of the deceased, officiating. A Con-celebrated Mass will be offered at St. Cecilia's Church Tuesday at 9:30 a.m. by Monsignor Thomas Kealy, Vicar General of the Diocese of Lincoln, Father Daniel Kealy of St. John's Parish in Lincoln and Father Rawley Myers of St. Joseph's Parish in York. Bishop James V. Casey of Lincoln will give the final blessing and Father Myers will preach the sermon. Interment will be in Parkview cemetery with the Butler-Volland Funeral Home in charge. The family suggests memorials in Mr. Kealy's honor may be given to the Crosier Monastery. ------------------------ Rosary Friday For Mrs. Kealy Longtime Resident of Hastings Dies at 74 in Family Home Mrs. Frank D. Kealy, who had been in failing health for a number of weeks, died Thursday at her home at 1300 east Seventh. She was born 74 years ago near Trumbull, a daughter of Clay county pioneers. Mrs. Kealy was a member of St. Cecilia's Catholic Church and of the Altar Society and St. Cecilia's Social Circle. On the occasion of the Kealys' golden wedding in September, 1953, His Excellency, the Most Rev. Louis B. Kucera, Bishop of the Lincoln Diocese, presided at anniversary services in St. Cecilia's Church and a telegram from the Vatican imparting the Apostolic Blessing of His Holiness, Pope Pius XII, to the jubilarians was read. RECOGNITION Last May, Mr. and Mrs. Kealy received the medal Pro Ecclesta et Pontifice in special services at St. Cecilia's in which Bishop Kucera officiated. Mrs. Kealy is survived by her husband, daughters Mrs. Ralph A. Miller, Mrs. Donovan B. Foote, Mrs. Richard Sheehy, and Miss Josephine Kealy of Hastings, Mrs. John Maher of Omaha, Miss Loretta Kealy of New Rochelle, N.Y., Mrs. Ralph Worden of Columbus, O., and Mrs. Roy McMurray of Coeur d'Alene, Ida.; sons, the Right Rev. Monsignor Thomas Kealy and the Rev. Daniel Kealy of Lincoln and Richard Kealy of Hastings; 25 grandchildren, and her sisters, Mrs. Julian Bassett and Mrs. Lena Horrigan of Hastings. SERVICES SATURDAY The recitation of the Rosary will be Friday evening at 8 o'clock in the Livingston-Butler-Volland Chapel with the Right Rev. Monsignor M. C. Grogan of St. Cecilia's Parish officiating. Monsignor Grogan also will officiate in services Saturday morning at 11 o'clock in St. Cecilia's Church. Burial will be in Parkview cemetery.
