James T. McDermott James T. McDermott, 77, of Delmar, died at 8:40 p.m. Monday in his home. Funeral services will be at 9:00 a.m. CST Thursday in St. Patrick's Catholic church in Delmar, with burial in Immaculate Conception cemetery in Petersville. The body is at Hanrahan Funeral Home in DeWitt, where friends may call after 8:00 p.m. today. The rosary will be recited Wednesday at 9:00 p.m. DST in the funeral home James T. McDermott was born November 4, 1885 in Washington township, the son of James and Mary Shannon McDermott. On October 9, 1912 he married Margaret Watters in Immaculate Conception church. in Petersville. The couple farmed in the Petersville area until their retirement when they moved to Delmar. Surviving are the widow; one daughter, Mrs. Louis Burnett of Lost Nation; four sons; Earl, Patrick, Joseph and Charles, all of Delmar; Three brothers, Luke of Charlotte, Cleo of DeWitt and Leo of Oakland, California, and 15 grandchildren. The funeral will be at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday in St. Patrick's church in Delmar with the Reverend Jim Burnett, a grandson, officiating Burial will be in Immaculate Conception cemetery at Petersville. Visitation is today in the Hanrahan Funeral Home in De Witt, with the recitation of the rosary at 8:00 p.m. Pallbearers, all grandsons, will be Bob and Ron Burnett, Mike, Ray, Paul, Kevin McDermott. She was born October 9, 1888 at Petersville to James and Margaret Fullan Watters. She married James McDermott on October 9, 1912 in Petersville. They farmed in the Petersville area until retiring in 1957 and moving to Delmar. She was a member of St. Patrick's church and the Altar and Rosary Society. Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Louis (Renolda) Burnett of Lost Nation, four sons, Earl, Joe and Pat, all of Delmar and Charles of Lamor, Co., 19 grandchildren, six great grandchildren, and a sister, Mrs. Florence Elsner of Cedar Rapids. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1963 and four sisters and five brothers. The funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Sacred Heart church in Lost Nation. The mass will be celebrated by her son, the Rev. James Burnett. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be from 2 to 9 p.m. Sunday at the Haylock-O'Hara Funeral Home in Maquoketa, where a 7 P. M. wake service will be held. A Rosary will be recited at 4 p. m. by the Knights of Columbus 8269 Council of Maquoketa. Mrs. Burnett was born June 27, 1917, in Delmar, to James and Margaret McDermott. She married Louis M. Burnett June 10, 1941 in Petersville, Iowa. she graduated from Mount St. Clare College and was a school teacher in the Delmar area for several years. She was a member of Sacred Heart church, lost Nation. She was active in the church choir, the Altar and Rosary Society, Mothers Club and several other organizations. She was an active member in the family business. Survivors include her husband; three sons, the Rev.
