Edna Mae Clavin CLAVIN-Edna Mae, 86, on July 13, 2004 of Westbury, NY. A professor of English at Nassau Community College, Garden City, NY 1981-2002. Nassau Community College AA. Hofstra University Bachelaureate Degree in English and Masters Degree in English Literature. Immaculate Conceptions Seminary, Huntington, Masters Degree in Sacred Theology. Received scholarships from Phi Theta Kappa Nassau Community College, Hofstra University and Immaculate Conception Seminary. Church Membership and Affiliation: St. Brigid Church, His Spirit of Love Community, founder and leader from 1985 till her death, Sacred Heart Community, Wednesday Ladies Rosary Society (30 years), in Westubury, NY. Served on Boards of Marriage Encounter and St. Brigid's Religious Education. Edna was in the process of publishing a book Prophecies at the time of her death. Her family and community will continue this work. Edna loved her gardens, pond, and birds. She spent her last weekend before surgery painting watercolors in her gardens with her grandchildren and celebrating with her family at the ocean. Married to Nassau County Police Inspector and Professor of Computer Technology, Harry M. Clavin, in 1937. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be sent to: His Spirit of Love Community Book Fund or World of Hope Foundation, PO Box 1779, Gray, LA 70359-1779 to support orphaned children in the Phillippines. Survived by her two sons, Harry Wayne Clavin and Christopher Edmund Clavin, two daughters, Claudia Clavin Bassano and Candace Clavin Rein and nine grandchildren. Prececeased by her daughter Kathleen and her husband Harry. Reposing Donohue Cecere Funeral Home, 290 Post Avenue, Westbury, on Saturday and Sunday between the hours of 2-4 and 7-9 pm. Mass of Christian Burial Monday 10 am St. Brigid's RC Church, Westbury. Interment Holy Rood Cemetery. Published in Newsday on 7/16/2004.
