ELDRED CEMETERY

The Old Eldred Cemetery,
Rte. 55
Eldred, Sullivan Co., New York

Note: This cemetery is old and almost entirely neglected. Many of the graves are sunken, stones toppled or broken and buried; the ground is very wet. Most of the cemetery is entirely shaded, and damp. The ground cover is mostly mosses. The are at least 200 graves here and perhaps many more. Although I found several veterans, I saw no military markers or American flags as in other cemeteries. Across the highway (Rte. 55) is another large cemetery "St. Anthony's Cemetery of Yulan, NY", although this IS in Eldred.

Cemetery from road (Rte. 55).

Entering cemetery, left.
