Lackawaxen and Union Cemetery, and St. Mark's Lutheran Church
Established in 1800
On the Delaware River
Lackawaxen, Pike Co., Pennsylvania
Approx. 3 acres, this cemetery is next to and on the south side of The Zane Gray Museum.

BARNES J. Scott Barnes, [Born] Dec. 12, 1892. [Died] Nov. 28,
1919. Emblem top: IOOF [ Independent Order of Odd Fellows ]; initials with in the three chain links: FLT [Friendship, Love and Truth]; Lodge Number at bottom: 352.
CRAWFORD [?CRANFORD] In Memory of James Crawford, a natiave
of Scotland.
DEVER Mother, Catherine Dever, 1827 1918.

HUNT To The Memory of John K. Hunt, who died June 14, 1873, Aged
50 years, 2 Mos and 12 D's. A partial read of the inscription on the bottom of stone reads:
Thou art gone to the grave but _________
to deplore thee.

Thy Guide - He gave thee. He too ______
He will restore thee. Death has no _______________
______ the Saviour has died

KIMBLE - RIDGEWAY Milton S. Kimble, Nov. 1, 1819 - Sept. 8, 1898.
Martha J. Ridgeway, His Wife, Feb. 27, 1825 - Oct. 25, 1898 (1895 - 1898?). Small markers on
each side, and rear of monument are (left) "Uncle Milton"; (right) "Aunt Martha".
SHAFFER Brock Shaffer, died Aug. 18, 1883, AE 40 Yrs. 11 Mos.
and 22 Days.
SHANNON Calvin C. Shannon, Born Jan. 17, 1840, Died Feb. 17,
1902. Almira B. Shannon 1846 - 1934
SHANNON Isabel, Daughter of C.C. & Almira Shannon, Died Sept. 17,
1863, aged 11 Months and 12 days.
SHANNON Mary A., Wife of Charles W. Shannon, Died May 12,
1884, Aged 31 Yrs., 3 Mos., and 14 days. Gone But Not Forgotten.

SMYTH In Memory of Thomas Smyth, a native of Ireland, who died July
1, 1819 [?], AE 22 years & ____.

north of the Lackawaxen/Delaware rivers' meeting place.

1847, Aged 38 Years 5 (possibly) Months, and 18 Days. In the midst of Life we are in Death.

Zane Gray House/Museum Front of the house, facing the Delaware River on
my left. To the right a bit is the Lackawaxen & Union Cemetery and St. Mark's Church. Just south on
the River is the suspension bridge built by John Augustus Roebling
(1806-1869), in preparation for construction of the Brooklyn Bridge. North
side of Zane Gray house. Finally, a shot looking north on the Delaware
from the parking area below the Zane Gray house/museum.
