               MARRIAGE LICENSES AND DIVORCE DECREES FOR WEEK JUST ENDING

REDDING (Shasta Co.), November 19 - Four marriage licenses were issued this week. The favored couples were the following:

 Frank A. ANDERSON, aged 27, of Olinda, and Annie C. KLUMAN, aged 17, of Olinda, the bride’s mother consenting; E.D. WILSON, aged 26, of Inwood, and Carrie E. CLELAND, aged 18, of Battle Creek Valley; Dolies GARVIN, aged 26, of French Gulch, and Mary I. SYME, aged 24, Postmistress of French Gulch; W.A. McCANDLESS, aged 40, of Burney, and Helen LONQUIST, aged 23, of Burney.

  In the Divorce Court, Ida L. FIELDS, of Delta, received an interlocutory decree in her suit against John G. FIELDS, and Mary C. AUSTIN, of Redding, received an absolute decree in her suit against William AUSTIN, also of Redding.

               SISKIYOU COUNTY

YREKA, November 19 - The following marriage licenses were issued by the County Clerk of Siskiyou County for the week just ending:

 Raymond N. EVANS, 22, Fort Jones, and Lottie M. BURTON, 18, Quartz Valley; Byron F. DUNN, 27, and Elizabeth M. WILLIAMS, 24, both of Dunsmuir; W.D. BARN, 39, Medford, Oregon, and Josie DOWNING, 36, of Oregon; Charles U. HUPP, 35, of Michigan, and Mary J. CRAVENS, 23, California.

  Alice M. ALBRIGHT was granted an interlocutory decree of divorce from Harry ALBRIGHT on the ground of desertion.

               TEHAMA COUNTY

RED BLUFF, November 19 - Three marriage licenses were issued during the past week by the County Clerk’s office, and the fortunate couples were as follows:

 Claude BRANSTETTER, aged 28 years, and Miss Nettie Agnes BEEVE, aged 25 years, both are natives of California and residents of Dunsmuir, where they will reside. They were married in this city by Rev. D.A. RUSSELL.

  Frank L. BAILEY, aged 40 years, a resident of Prattville, Plumas County and Mrs. Mollie E. BROWN, aged 39 years, a resident of Red Bluff, both being natives of California. They were united in the bonds of matrimony by Rev. H.A. CRESSER.

  Charles CRAMER, aged 41 years, a native of Ohio, and Dora SCOTT, aged 38 years, a native of Iowa. Both are residents of Corning, where the wedding was solemnized.     

               YUBA COUNTY

MARYSVILLE, November 19 - Although the first couple who applied for a marriage license in Yuba County this week gave their residences as “Dixon, Yolo County,” it is pretty well understood that they were an eloping San Francisco couple. The young man, who gave his name as Harold LOUDERBACK and age as 22, is a son of Judge Louderback, and the lady of his choice is Harriet COLYER, aged 19, with whom he has been smitten some time.

  A license was also granted to E.E. MITCHELL, of Nelson Point, and Myra E. BEAN, of Hansonville.

  In the divorce suit of Anna L. MEYER vs. Frederick MEYER, an interlocutory decree has been entered by Judge McDANIEL. The custody of the two children has been awarded to the mother, and she is to receive $12 per month for their support.

               MARRIAGE LICENSES AND DIVORCE DECREES FOR WEEK JUST ENDING

REDDING (Shasta Co.), November 26 - Three marriage licenses were issued, three decrees of divorce were granted and one suit for divorce was instituted in Shasta County during the week just closing.

  The matrimonial permits were issued to the following couples: Fred ASHER, aged 37, of Ingot, and Miss Mabel WARD, aged 19, also of Ingot; John DESMOND, aged 42, of Stella, and Miss Lillian ROSE, aged 25, of Redding; George E. WRIGHT, aged 29, of Castella, and Julia E. WITHERS, aged 16, also of Castella, the father of the prospective bride consenting.

  In the way of divorces, Laura J. ALLEN received an absolute decree of separation from James A. ALLEN, and William D. BASSETT was in like manner separated from Nina M. BASSETT. Richard A. MONTGOMERY received an interlocutory decree of divorce from Carrie A. MONTGOMERY on the ground of desertion. Nellie M. VARNUM, of Bella Vista, has filed a suit of divorce from Daniel Webb VARNUM, a locomotive engineer, of Sacramento.

               SISKIYOU COUNTY

YREKA, November 26 - The following marriage licenses were issued by the County Clerk of Siskiyou County, during the week just ending:

 Frederick Henry TEEBE, 24, of Etna, and Miss May LICHENS, 24, of Oak Bar; Allon L. BARLY, 25, and Miss Georgie STEVENS, 18, both of Upton.

  Ilamay LYLE, who is suing J.H.R. LYLE for a divorce, has been granted $200 for counsel fees and expenses to prosecute the ac ion and to defend against defendant’s cross-complaint.

  Nettie E. MINER has also brought suit against William J. MINER for a divorce on the grounds of desertion and failure to provide.

               YUBA COUNTY

MARYSVILLE, November 26 - The County Clerk issued the following marriage licences this week:

 Logan HUSE, 20, Annie TOMPKINS, 24, Oroville; J.H. LEFOE and Lizzie GUMPTON, Chico; R.C.M. BERRIMAN and Winifred MITCHELL, Marysville; Alonso C. DENNIS and Mrs. Catharine HARRIS, Marysville.

  Two other Marysvillians went to other fields to choose a bride and are now at home enjoying the honeymoon, as follows:

 Richard P. McKAY was married in San Francisco to Miss Laura May ELDRED, and Conrad MILLER went to Sacramento to be married to Miss Hattie OSBORNE.

  Ernest NUTT and Miss Generva DUNN, of this city, were married at the Capital on the 23d.

               BUTTE COUNTY

OROVILLE, November 26 - The following marriage licenses were issued during the past week by County Clerk H.T. BATCHELDER:

MARRIAGE AND DIVORCE RECORD FOR THE WEEK JUST ENDING

REDDING (Shasta Co.), December 3 - A remarkable feature of the marriage licenses issued his week is the youth of some of the parties. In one instance both parties were under age, the boy presenting the written consent of his father and the girl the written consent of her mother. In another instance the girl was under age while the prospective husband was credited with 40 years.

  The five couples securing licenses were as follows: Benjamin Lee WINTERS, aged 21, and Sadie J. KENYON, aged 22, both residing at Round Mountain; William W. DAVIDSON, aged 19, and Bertha NEDROW, aged 15, both of Inwood; John H. PURCELL, aged 40, and Violet GEMMILL, aged 17, both of Harrison Gulch; Chas A. SUMNER, aged 30, and Mabel BUNYARD, aged 20, both very recent arrivals from Oregon, but claiming Redding as their place of residence; Samuel SORENSON, aged 30, and Lillie E. VILLAS, aged 33, both of Shingletown.

            IN YUBA COUNTY

MARYSVILLE, December 3 - The following parties secured permits to enter upon wedded life this week; C.E. ASHBURN and Lena B. COSTA, Challenge; Dr. Hall VESTAL, of Smartsville, and Miss Amanda BEAN, of Scales Diggins; Oscar N. PAULEY, of Los Porte, and Miss Mamie MELLON, of Challenge.

  In the divorce suit of BLOCK vs. BLOCK, an order has been made for the publication of summons.

  Maria W. FETROW has commenced an action in the Superior Court to have dissolved the marital bonds existing between her and her husband, Henry W. FETROW. The grounds are desertion and failure to provide. Mrs. Fetrow asks for attorney’s fees, for the custody of their two minor children, and for whatever property her husband possesses, as security for temporary and permanent alimony in support of the children. Since the papers were served on Fetrow he has deeded to his mother whatever realty he possessed.

  D.R. CLARK, of Oregon House, this county, and Miss Martha KEPPEL, of Clear Creek, Butte County, were married at the latter place yesterday.

            IN BUTTE COUNTY

OROVILLE, December 3 - The following marriage licenses have been issued in this county during the past week:

 James BARTLOW, aged 39, and Jennie E. LOVELL, aged 36, both residents of Chico; Daniel CLARK, of Oregon House, Yuba County, and Miss Martha KEPPEL, of Clear Creek, Butte County.

  In the divorce case of Delia FRISCHOLS vs. Midland FRISCHOLS, a summons was served on defendant.

  In the action of Mabel J. SMITH vs. Wm. C. SMITH an interlocutory decree of divorce and the custody of minor child granted the plaintiff.

            IN SISKIYOU COUNTY

YREKA, December 3 - Only one marriage license was issued by the County Clerk of Siskiyou County during the past week, which is an unusual occurrence in this county.

  Jose D. PLAS, 38, of Virginia Bar, and Mary D. LUCE, 23, of Greenhorn.

  Two divorces were granted. Nellie O. HARMON was granted an absolute final decree from John E. HARMON, and Anna JONES was granted an interlocutory decree from William JONES.

               IN BUTTE

OROVILLE (Butte Co.), December 10 - Following is a record of the divorce proceedings in Butte County during the past week. Lillie EVANS has brought suit for divorce from her husband, George EVANS, on the alleged grounds of desertion. Plaintiff asks for $100 to pay costs of suit, and $30 per month alimony. This couple was married in 1902.

  In the case of George W. HEFNER vs. Myra HEFNER, the plaintiff alleged desertion, but the defendant filed a cross-complaint on grounds of failure to provide. The Court granted the defendant an interlocutory decree of divorce and ordered plaintiff to pay her $25 per month alimony.

  Mabel J. SMITH was given an interlocutory decree of divorce from William C. SMITH and allowed the custody of their minor child.

  Ida R. KEATING was given a final decree of divorce from James P. KEATING.

  In the case of Harry LOVE vs. Mae LOVE a final decree of divorce has been granted.

  In the case of Minnie SEWARD vs. Caleb SEWARD, the defendant filed a demurrer to the complaint.

  May FLYNN was given an interlocutory decree from Jos. FLYNN, and Katherine YOUNG was granted the same from J.A. YOUNG.

               IN EL DORADO COUNTY

PLACERVILLE (El Dorado Co.), December 10 - During the past week Clerk FISHER issued marriage licenses to Frank BERGALIA, aged 25, and Eva HART, aged 16, both parties reside at Canyon in this county; Charles O. OLSEN, aged 39, to Mary Matilda VOTEL, aged 23, both are residents of this city.        

               IN YUBA COUNTY

MARYSVILLE (Yuba Co.), December 10 - During the past week four marriage licenses were granted by Cupid EASTMAN, of the County Clerk’s office. An unusual circumstance is that all were Yuba County people.

  The licenses issued this week were to Stephen S. SCOTT, age 21, and Miss Martha A. CRAWFORD, aged 18, both of Brown Valley; Chester Ray BIELBY, aged 21, and Miss Louise ARMSTEAD, aged 21, both of Wheatland; J.B. LOCKHART, aged 46, and Mrs. Katie BATES, aged 50, both of Marysville; Robert Samuel GASSAWAY, aged 48, and Mrs. Bertha COLLINS, aged 38, both of Smartsville.

MARRIAGE LICENSES ISSUED AND DIVORCE DECREES MADE

YREKA (Siskiyou Co.), January 14 - The following marriage licenses were issued by County Clerk RANKIN during the week:

 Christie STENSHAW, 22, Forks of Salmon, and Susie MERRILL, 22, Somes Bar; Clarence F. TUNER, 24, Dunsmuir, and Kittie A. SIMPSON, 19, Dunsmuir.

  Only one divorce was granted, Michael WHACKER being granted a final decree from Anna WHACKER.

               SHASTA COUNTY

REDDING, January 14 - County Clerk BLODGETT issued three marriage licenses during the week just closing. The couples authorized to marry were: William JOHNS, aged 49, and Ina FARRINGTON, aged 48, both of Redding; John WESSEL, aged 38, of De La Mar, and May E. ELLIOTT, aged 42, of McCloud; Daniel F. COVEY, aged 26, and Lora McCORMICK, aged 25, both of Whitmore.

  Absolute decrees of divorce were granted in the cases of Daniel F. COVEY against Susie E. COVEY, and Hulda WHITE against George WHITE. Mrs. Anna L. HARVEY has begun suit for divorce from W.L. HARVEY. Both parties are now residents of Redding.

               MENDOCINO COUNTY

UKIAH, January 14 - The following three marriage licenses were issued during the week by Clerk McCOWEN: George CLARK, aged 22, of Ukiah, and Miss Ruth WILSON, aged 21, of Laytonville; Edward GRIFFITH, aged 45, of Nardy Creek, and Mrs. Lucy PEERY, aged 39, of Nardy Creek; Thomas J. SIMPSON, aged 24, of Noyo, and Miss Amelia LARSON, aged 22, of Fort Bragg.

  No decrees of divorce were granted during the week.

               YUBA COUNTY

MARYSVILLE, January 14 - Business continues brisk in Yuba County’s marriage license bureau. The following partied were granted permits to wed this week:

 Walter R. JORGENSEN and Miss Winifred CARNEY, both of Wheatfield; Jesse E. ROYAT and Miss Ziepha COLLING, both of Dobbins; Frost B. THOMAS, of Marysville, and Miss Cora J. WARNES, of Berkeley.

               BUTTE COUNTY

OROVILLE, January 14 - Marriage licenses have been granted in Butte County during the past week as follows:

 Garrett W. OVERTON, aged 27, and Frances M. DEHANEY, aged 23, both residents of Chico; Fred HOWLAND, of Coalinga, and Kate E. FRY, of Forbestown; Samuel J. MORTON, aged 24, and Clara T. URQUHART, aged 18, both of Chico.

               IN SISKIYOU COUNTY

YREKA, October 7 - Siskiyou’s matrimonial mill has been exceedingly dull this week. Only one marriage license was issued and only one divorce was granted. The license was granted to Michael James SAMON, aged 44, and Annie Elizabeth JOHNSTON, aged 25, both of Callahans, Siskiyou County.

  Lelace E. McDANIEL was granted a final decree of divorce from Jacob H. McDANIEL.

               IN YOLO COUNTY

WOODLAND (Yolo Co.), October 7 - The following marriage licenses were issued by County Clerk HADSALL the past week:

 Earl L. SNAVEY, of Woodland, age 22, and Coloma L. GIBSON, age 17, of Winters; August J. KEIGEL, age 33, and Harriet HOPPEN, aged 28, both of Yolo; Andy J. SUMN, age 23, and Lottie HAWLLER, age 23, both of Woodland.

MARYSVILLE (Yuba Co.), October 7 - In the divorce suit of S.M. HURLBERT vs. Laura E. HURLBERT, the contention of plaintiff that the matter should be heard in Placer County, where he is now employed, rather than in Yuba County, has been taken under consideration by Judge McDANIEL.

  In the case of J.F. COLT vs. Eloise COLT, the Court has granted the interlocutory decree.

               IN PLACER COUNTY

AUBURN (Placer Co.), October 7 - The only marriage license issued here this week was to William B. BEACH, 23, and Minnie M. MILAN, 15, both of Auburn.

               IN TEHAMA COUNTY

RED BLUFF (Tehama Co.), October 7 - The marriage and divorce record in this county is a stand-off this week, and one couple sought relief from the bonds of matrimony, while another entered the wedded state. The couple who are embarking on the marital sea are:

 Frank R. COFFER, who was born on the Atlantic Ocean, and is now a resident of Willetts, Mendocino County, and Helen Elizabeth STONE, a resident of Manton, Shasta County. As the bride was only 17 years of old, her mother, Mrs. Stone, gave her consent to the marriage, which was performed by Justice of the Peace W.L. BRANSFORD.

  Bertha RENO brought suit for divorce from Leander RENO on the ground of incompatibility.

REDDING (Shasta Co.), October 14 - The County Clerk did a god (sic) business this week in issuing marriage licenses. Six couples received the treasured documents. They were: Maurice BOSWELL, aged 21, and Ethel WHITE, aged 18, both of Shasta; Otha A. MOORE, aged 22, and Loretta B. ANDERSON, aged 23, both of Oak; Byron A. NORDYKE, aged 30, and Juanita M. LOGAN, aged 20, both of Redding; James J. HEATH, aged 28, of South Bend, Wash., and Ruby F. HERZINGER, aged 23, of Redding; Robert F. BENSON, aged 35, and Martha A. PEEK, aged 40, both of Keswick; John S. KIRKPATRICK, aged 34, of Redding, and Ida A. HARDENBROOK, aged 26, of Bayha.

  Minnie E. MOTT received an interlocutory decree of divorce from Phillip H. MOTT. Mabel WOOD received a like decree from Edward WOOD. Mary FULLER received an absolute decree from Benjamin FULLER.

               IN BUTTE COUNTY

OROVILLE (Butte Co.), October 14 - Business in the marriage license department of the County Clerk’s office was rather more brisk than usual this week. Four licenses were issued as follows:

 Arthur Clyde MASTELLAR, aged 29, of Dredgerville, and Mabel LEWIS, 20, of Clear Creek; Charles Andrew SANFORD, of Arizona, and Lydia Caroline WILLIAMS, of Chico; B.F. DAVIS, 29, and Viola RICHARDS, 20, both of Gridley; Henry C. COX, over 21, and Theresa G. HASTINGS, over 18, both of Chico.

  Two interlocutory decrees of divorce were granted: Mary A. PATRICK from Chas. PATRICK and Alice TETREAU from Frank TETREAU.

  Two suits for divorce were filed, both on the grounds of desertion: Myrtle EBL vs. Chas. E. EBL, and Jennie CUNNINGHAM vs. J.J. CUNNINGHAM.

               IN YOLO COUNTY

WOODLAND (Yolo Co.), October 14 - The following marriage licenses were issued the last week: Clarence B. CRANE, over 21, of Los Banos, and Alzada Pearl CANNELL, over 18, of Yolo; Ira DAVIS, age 30, and Charlotte WILSON, age 37, both of Oceanside; Charles J. BARNES, age 26, and Mamie E. WILLIAMS, age 23, both of Woodland.

               IN TEHAMA COUNTY

RED BLUFF (Tehama Co.), October 14 - Three cases of where true love has run smoothly against only one instance of “sweet bells out of tune” is the record for the marriages and divorces of the week. The mated couples are: Charles H. LYON, of this city, and Miss Hattie E. BOOSE, of Paskenta; Henry J. SCHAFER, and Miss Augusta Caroline PETER, both of Red Bluff; Otto E. ASMAN, and Miss Lydia A. SMALL, both of Tehama.

  Andres MEJEAS seeks a release from the matrimonial bonds which have hitherto bound him to Rose MEJEAS.

               IN EL DORADO COUNTY

PLACERVILLE (El Dorado Co.), October 14 - The following marriage license was issued during the past week by the County Clerk of this county: Albert RHODES, aged 25, of Fresno, and Elizabeth TURNER, aged 20, of El Dorado.

NEVADA CITY (Nevada Co.), October 14 - This has been a record-breaking week in the matter of marriage licenses. The following have been taken out during the week:

Although no marriage licenses were issued from the local bureau this week, there are announcements of approaching weddings at a distance, which include former residents of this locality.

To-morrow at the home of the bride’s parents at West Butte, Miss Abbie NOYES will be married to Antone VAGEDAS, formerly of this city.

Walter A. STAGNER, who was married in Santa Rosa this week to Miss Mabel THOMPSON, is a former resident of Wheatland, this county. He and his bride will reside in Chico, the present home of his parents. 

IN SISKIYOU COUNTY

YREKA (Siskiyou Co.), January 19 -

The following marriage licenses were issued during the past week: Ralph HUGHES, aged 22, and Oliva Geneva EUBANKS, age 17, both of Scott Valley; Henry John GEARY, aged 47, to Gertrude Abigal HARRISON, aged 48, both of McCLOUD.
