Ball
of the 69th Regiment |
|
|
A notable
feature of the celebration of the National Festival was the annual ball of
the Sixty ninth Regiment which took |
|
place in
the regimental armory, at Seventh Street and Third Avenue. The drill room was gayly decorated with
banners, flags, |
portraits, flowers and arms of the
different States of the Union…Prof. BAYNE, director of the regimental band,
was appropriated |
and of
such unusual excellence, as to elicit the commendations of the lovers of good
music…a grand selection of " Remember |
Ireland"..grand
march dedicated to Col. CAVANNAGH, led by Paul F LEONARD and Miss M.
CARROLL.... |
|
dancing
was kept up with a short intermission for supper, until the breaking of
day…The details and comforts of all were |
|
admirably
