Ball of the 69th Regiment
A notable feature of the celebration of the National Festival was the annual ball of the Sixty ninth Regiment which took
place in the regimental armory, at Seventh Street and Third Avenue.  The drill room was gayly decorated with banners, flags,
 portraits, flowers and arms of the different States of the Union…Prof. BAYNE, director of the regimental band, was appropriated
and of such unusual excellence, as to elicit the commendations of the lovers of good music…a grand selection of " Remember
Ireland"..grand march dedicated to Col. CAVANNAGH, led by Paul F LEONARD and Miss M. CARROLL.... 
dancing was kept up with a short intermission for supper, until the breaking of day…The details and comforts of all were
admirably looked out for by the following gentlemen:
