- Maria Ann (Biddle) Hiltz was married to Joseph
Hiltz. She was the mother of Kunigunda (Hiltz) Bailey, who was the
mother of Hannah (Bailey) Boddy. Kunigunda wasTeresa (Boddy)Wiener's
grandmother. Maria was born on Feb. 2, 1804 in Baden, Germany, died
March 8, 1872 in Norwalk, Huron County, Ohio
- Joseph Hiltz was the father of Kunigunda (Hiltz) Bailey, the
mother of Hannah (Bailey) Boddy,Teresa (Bailey) Wiener's grandmother.
Joseph was born in Baden, Germany, on Dec. 30, 1798, died Nov. 24,
1878 in Norwalk, Huron County, Ohio.

inscription on one side of the Hiltz Family Headstone. This is a
listing of their children but most of these children are not even
buried here. For instance, Kunigunda (Kinney) Bailey is buried in
Lucas County, Ohio. The inscription on this side of the stone which is
located at St. Paul's Catholic Cemetery, Norwalk Township, Huron
County, Ohio (Section 3&4, Row 4) reads:

Cemetery, Norwalk Township, Huron County, Ohio (Section 3&4, Row 4).
The inscription on one side of the headstone reads: HILTZ ARRIVED FROM
BADEN BADEN GERMANY 1842 FOUNDED HILTZ INN WHICH CATERED TO GRAIN
CARAVANS GOING TO MILAN CANAL HABOR (misspelled). to see it

The Hiltz Family had an Inn where they served food and provided
beds for those travelling to use the Canal Harbor. The canal started
at the base of a hill at Milan, Ohio, went north and entered the Huron
River, and then thru Huron County, and into Lake Erie. It was only a
few miles long, but used extensively for shipping grain.
