Lee County Vital Records
There are many requests for early Vital Records. Many researchers are hoping to find the name of the parents from this data. I hope this information will help you understand what is available for Lee County.
Prior to 1880 it was not mandatory that vital records of Births or Deaths be recorded. When the public was asked to report these happenings, after 1880, not everyone complied. Therefore, records that you are searching between 1880-1921 are not always complete, and the event you are searching for, may not have been documented. The earlier the year, the less chance that event was recorded. There are no Birth or Death Records before 1880 in Lee Co.
Mandatory registration was enacted by the Iowa Legislature in 1921.
There are two court houses in the county, North and South. I will try to designate which court house the information came from. I will add more information as I find it
