1779 VIRGINIA DEED RECORD
FROM FRANCIS HAYS OF PRINCE EDWARD COUNTY
TO THOMAS MORGAN OF POWHATAN COUNTY


This indenture made this tenth day of August one thousand seven hundred and seventy-nine between Francis Hays of Prince Edward County of the one part and Thomas Morgain of Powhatan County of the other part.

Witnesseth that the said Francis Hays, for and in consideration of the sum of three hundred pounds current money of Virginia to him in hand paid before the sealing of these presents, the receipt whereof I do hereby acknowledge, granted, bargained, and sold and confirmed unto the said Thomas Morgin, his heirs and assigns, one hundred and nineteen acres of land being more or less, it being and lying in Prince Edward and lying on the branches of Spring Creek and adjoining and cornering Richard Sinkey�s line, line beginning at a corner white oak, thence along Philip Madigar�s line, and thence to Nathan Chaffin, thence along Chaffin�s line to Richard Sinkey, thence along Sinkey�s line to the beginning corner, together with all houses, buildings, enclosures, orchards, waters and water courses, profits and [illegible] whatsoever to the same, belonging or in anywise appertaining and remainder thereof and of every part and parts thereof and all the estate rights, titles, and interest whatsoever of him, the said Francis Hays of, in, and the said bargained premises and every part and parcel thereof to have and to hold, the said tract or parcel of land and all and singular premises and appurtenances unto the said Thomas Morgain, his heirs and assigns to the only [illegible] of him, the said Thomas Morgain, his heirs and assigns forever, and the said Francis Hays, his heirs and assigns, the said tract of land, all the premises with [illegible] unto the said Thomas Morgin, his heirs and assigns shall warrant and force and defend against all or any person or persons whatsoever and the said Francis Hays for himself, his heirs, and assigns in manner and form following, to wit:

That the said Francis Hays at the time of sealing and delivering of this present is and stands secure of a free simple in the said land and promises and hath full power, good right, and lawful authority to sell and convey the same in manner aforesaid, and the said Thomas Morgin, his heirs, and assigns shall and may forever hereafter peaceably and quietly have whole possession and enjoy molestation of any person whatsoever, and that the tract of land and premises shall forever hereafter remain unto the said Thomas Morgin, his heirs, and assigns free and discharged of all former estates rights and titles, dower debts, judgments, mortgages, and executors whatsoever.
