Great-Great Grandson of Harrison Osborne

The picture of Harrison Osborne, shown above, was given to me by my grandfather before he died many years ago. At the time, I was not too interested in my family history. But as the years past, I started to wonder about the man in the picture and what really happened to him. My grandfather did not seem to know much about him except that he was his grandfather and that he died in the Civil War. My grandfather had also given me a small pocket Bible that he said Harrison carried with him during the war. You can see a picture of the Bible here.

This web is a result of the research to determine who Harrison Osborne was and where he came from. Many interesting facts was discovered, many of which disproved some of the family lore that existed. One of the more interesting "finds" of the research is that Harrisons grandfather was John Osborne the "Diarist". John lived in the Waxhaw area of North Carolina and was a prolific diary keeper. It appears that he wrote many volumes of diaries over his life time. However, only two small portions have been found. (Any one having any information of any additional volumes or pieces of this diary is encouraged to email me). One of the known volumes is during a period of 1800 - 1802 before he was married. The other is during a period of 1819 - 1821 after he was married and had several children. You can read both diaries here.
