Haywood D. Blasingame, 78, a retired truck driver and veteran of World War II from North Little Rock, died Thursday, March 29, after a courageous battle with diabetes. He was of the Baptist faith.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 31 years, Betty Blasingame, his parents, M.J. and Edith Blasingame and a son, Richard Blasingame.

He is survived by his son, Jim Blasingame of North Little Rock; his daughter, Linda Holmes of Beebe; one brother, Brooks Blasingame of North Little Rock; one sister, Rose Wright of North Little Rock; a granddaughter, Pam Brown of Corning; one grandson, Jeremy Holmes of Beebe; and two great-grandchildren, Zachary and Laura Brown of Corning.

After working a number of years for Pfeifer Department Store, she began Bobbitt Realty and Construction Co. She was a member of Park Hill Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, James A. Bobbitt. She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Cynthia and Bill Walker of Dallas; a half-sister, Shirley McCaddon of Missouri City, Texas; and a niece, Ann Collins of Storckton, Calif.

Artie Max Bohard, 67, of North Little Rock died Friday, Oct. 27. He served in the U.S. Navy aboard the U.S.S. Iowa for four years and the U.S. Air Force until he retired in 1978. He served in Korea, Greenland, Thailand and Vietnam where he received the Purple Heart. He retired in 1998 from the Arkansas Office of State Purchasing.

He was preceded in death by a daughter, Kathy Bohard Taylor, a grandson, Cory Desbrow and a son-in-law, Gene Cardenas.

He is survived by his wife of 46 years Gertrude Ann Bohard of North Little Rock; daughters and sons-in-law, Robin and Mike Cave of Tallahassee, Fla., Sara and Steve Baldridge of North Little Rock, daughter, Amy Bohard of Atlanta; granddaughters, Megan Childs of North Little Rock and April Delong of Jacksonville; sisters, Iola Bentch of Cabot, Flo Dennis and Faye Coombs of Woodward, Okla., Carol Hart of Washington state; and a brother, Bill Bohard of Oklahoma City.

Jewel Edmond Bolden, 69, died Tuesday, March 6, in Williston, Tenn.

Mr. Bolden was a Korean War veteran. After returning to Little Rock, he was a professional truck driver, later, driving a taxicab.

He was preceded in death by three brothers. He is survived by his ex-wife and devoted companion of 40 years, Dora Mae Bolden; four sisters, Annie Pitman, Ruth Bolden and Cleo Hanson, all of Tennessee and Dora Hanson of Georgia.

A native of Owings Mill, Md., he was a World War II veteran, a member of St. Luke's Episcopal Church, a Mason and a member of the Scimitar Shrine Temple. He had worked for the Eastman Kodak for 18 years and later worked for Jungkind Photographic, retiring in 1990.

He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Marguerite "Sally" Bosley; one son and daughter-in-law, Skipper and Nancy Bosley of North Little Rock; and three grandchildren, Tina, Cort and Josh.

John Wesley Bradshaw Jr. 72, of North Little Rock, died Friday, May 30. He was a retired electrician with Arkansas Power & Light Co., a board member and Sunday School teacher at First Church of the Nazarene in Little Rock, and a member of the Rebsamen Golf Association.

Bradshaw, who was about to celebrate his 50th wedding anniversary on June 18, served in the U.S. Navy during World War II and the National Guard during the Korean War. He was a coach for the Rose City Baseball Association.

He is survived by his wife, Patty Bradshaw of North Little Rock; a son, Thomas Wesley Bradshaw ofNorth Little Rock; daughters, Cheryl Ann Bridges of Oklahoma City; and Becky Hunt of Mountain Home; also grandchildren, Bradley, Wesley and Nataley Bradshaw, Aron and April Bridges, and Keelan and Kara Hunt.

Sister Jane Frances Brockman, 91, of the St. Scholastica Monastery in Fort Smith, died Monday, Aug. 14.

She was a teacher and an administrator, who had taught elementary school in Lake Village and North Little Rock and had served as the administrator of the St. Joseph Home in North Little Rock for eight years. For seven years she had been a teacher and principal at St. Scholastica Academy in Fort Smith for seven years.

She held a bachelor's degree from St. Mary's College in South Bend, Ind., and her masters from Catholic University in Washington, D.C. She was the Prioress of St. Scholastica, the president of the Federation of St. Gertrude and the director for the Hesychia House of Prayer in New Blaine, Ark.

This past July 15 was the anniversary of her 75th monastic profession.

Besides the sisters of her religious community, she is survived by two sisters, Martha Woods of Baltimore, and Mattie Endres of Hutchinson, Kan; and two brothers, Ernest Brockman of Nazareth, Texas and Victor Brockman of Midland, Texas.

A Funeral Mass was held Wednesday, Aug. 16, at St. Scholastica Chapel in Fort Smith with Abbot Jerome Kodell as the celebrant. Burial was in the St. Scholastica Cemetery.

Barbara Ann "Bobbie" Gorman Bryne Bobbie Byrne, 67, of North Little Rock died Saturday May 1.

A native of Iowa whose twin sister died at birth, she came to Little Rock to attend Mount St. Mary's Academy where she met her future husband, Raymond Byrne of Little Rock. After raising a family, she spent 20 years in customer service at Worthen Bank.

After retiring, Bobbie cared for her mother during her final illness. Shortly thereafter, she became ill with the first symptoms of a rare and incurable disease, Wegener's Granulomatosis, but even during her two year struggle with this illness, she remained a caring and giving person.

She was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Diane Kathryn.

She is survived by five daughters and sons-in-law, Debbie and Charles Wirges of Sherwood, Marian and John States of Irving, Linda Sharp of Little Rock, Peggy and Kent Pursell and Kathleen and Gary Pursell, all of North Little Rock, Bob Joblin of Little Rock; a sister, Norma Wilson of Iola, Texas; 10 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Lester Henry Buck, 88, of North Little Rock, formerly of McGehee and Arkadelphia, died Thursday, May 1. He was a U.S. Air Force veteran of World War II and was retired from the Federal Compress & Warehouse Company in the McGehee area.

Survivors include his adopted family, Melissa Shook, Charlotte Shook, and Gail Jones all of Little Rock, and Sue Smith of North Little Rock.

Wayne Russell Buckley, 69, of North Little Rock, died Saturday, April 10. He was of the Baptist faith and very active with many deaf and blind organizations. He served in World War II in the Marine Corps and with the Air Force during the Vietnam war.

He was preceded in death by his wife Harry Lee Buckley and one brother, Carroll.

Survivors include his daughter, Harry Lee Buckley of North Little Rock; his mother, Esther Buckley of Lake Preston, S.D.; two brothers, Ray Buckley of Mitchell, S.D., and Gene Buckley of St. Johns, Mich.

BufordGraceGrace Buford of Briggsville, died Tuesday, Jan. 19, at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Little Rock after a lengthy battle with lung cancer.

She was 71.

A native of Amity, Ark., the middle of five children of a school district carpenter, she attended Henderson State College in Arkadelphia where she received her bachelor's and master's in home economics.

She taught home economics for 40 years in Briggsville and Plainview, encouraging her students, as she did her son, to stretch to reach their highest potential.

"She is the whole reason I achieved what I did," said her son Joe Lee Buford, a physician in North Little Rock.

She attended the Bluffton United Methodist Church, was a member and past matron of the Order of the Eastern Star, Gravelly Chapter No. 580, and was a founding member and past president of the Yell County Chapter of Delta Kappa Gamma.

She was a member of the Yell County Retired Teachers Association, the Danville Music Club and was on the board of the Yell County Special Services School.

But many friends and family members say they will remember her for her lovely voice and the way she sang so beautifully at so many weddings and funerals over the years.

"Grace was a lady of great faith and she practiced her faith. Her beautiful voice was a gift she used to sing praises," a friend of the family wrote.

Besides her son Joe Lee, she is survived by her husband, Cecil Lynn Buford; four sisters, Jo Ray of Murfreesboro; Ola Mae Garner of Texarkana, Texas; Eupha Watson of Nashville, Ark.; and Mary Lou White of Kirby, Ark.

Funeral services were held Saturday, Jan. 23, at the Shinn Chapel with the Revs. Royce Savage and Hulen Wieser officiating.

Jerry was baptized at Teen Challenge at the age of 18. Though life itself was his greatest challenge and often troubled, he had a wonderful gift of being able to make people laugh. She was also an active member of many lineage, benevolent and civic organizations.

She was the widow of W.B. "Bud" Butterworth. Survived by her sister and brother-in-law, Bennie and Emmett Reeds of Germantown, Tenn.; a niece, Bonnie McCleary of Byhali, Miss.; a nephew, C.V. Clint E. Reeds, III of Nacogdoches, Texas; three great-nieces; one great-nephew; and a loving caregiver, Debbie Stewart of North Little Rock.
